Which means that Buhari has a single term agenda.

He won't be able to participate in this exercise due to age and other issues like submission of certificate before the debates.

Buhari participated in NN24 debate in 2011, alongside Nuhu Ribadu and Shekarau

As always, our lawmakers are not professional politicians and thus lack the vision to reflect critically on ideas beforw they introduce it into bills.

A mandate is compelling, when its not fulfilled then a penalty is incurred.

So what would be penalty if a candidate refuses to attend or participate in debate? Who will conduct the debates, what are the criterias of the penalty?
on point.
those people no get sense, the constitution will need an amendment for this to stand, they should stop wasting our scarce resources on matters that matters not.
you can't disqualify a candidate for such, we go just get stupeed cases in court

Won't make any difference...people have their mind set on voting people based on money, religion and tribe. No amount of debate can change that in Nigeria

U are right dude, more reason I personally feel campaign is not necessary in Nigeria, the money for campaign should be used for bribing...
Cos despite d fact I love olamide music and he campaigned for APC, I wasn't moved, the only thing that could have change my mind then was MONEY
..

For how many candidates?

Even in the USA, it is not compulsory, that's why only the two major parties are chosen.

Next you will hear is that one mushroom party goes to court to say his debate was rigged hence the election must be cancelled.

Why do we not reason in this country. Our problem is not lack of rules and regulations. Stop making this a policed state.

What we need to do is improve our values by providing adequate education and enlightenment, and providing encouraging incentives.

Are u telling me u think debate result is actual voting results

Good.

I support this lawmaker.

If a practice like this had been put in place a long time ago, we would have known if really Goodluck Jonathan has a Doctorate in Marine Spirit, or whatever P.hd he claims he has it in.

We would have also been able to confirm, if Fayose is not intellectually bankrupt.

This debate would have made us known them better.

And buhari?

they should make it failure to participate in the debate will lead to automatic disqualification of the candidate and the party he/she represents from participating in the general election.

Read the subject '' Senate TO MAKE..'' It is not law yet and since this is Nigeria I strongly doubt it will fly. I wait patiently. Its a very good step. But really this is Nigeria will it matter? See Edo election!! Nah midnight or early morning they decide winner. How real was the result produced? Everyone shouting 2019 I will vote in and vote out, I laugh.!! Not everyone is GEJ who go think say he get friends but sorrounds himself with enemies. Do you really think 2015 result was 100% or 80% true ? Yes , people wanted change but GEJ lost by 2m votes should it have been more or less or should GEJ have won? Anyhow, let INEC and justice and the security forces be at least 90% just and fair then 2019 elections would be fair. TV or no TV debate e no go make difference in presen day Nigeira. Check out Lagos 2015 - Jimi vs Ambo TV debate. Jimi won but money played its role.
