As I visit hospitals, I realise many health practitioners in Nigeria are still ignorant of a very effective food supplement for Sickle Cell Disease (from 6months and above). A young woman called me last month. She was advised by her baby's doctor to get Dioscovite. So she started studying on it online, that's when she got my number. To cut the story short, I sent the supplement to her (home delivery) after she paid and called back to see how the baby is doing. It gladdened my heart to hear her say her baby is "in fact doing VERY fine." She said, "I almost called it is a miracle. She couldn't walk before I started giving it but that night same night she started to move." The baby's crisis stopped so she could move and do what other babies her age can do. The problem is I know of someone who tried this dioscovite drug about two to three years ago and this man's crisis only seemed to get worse from that point until he stopped taking it again( about a month later). He's doing relatively well though and married now with kids. It's funny though because when you research online about this supplement there are lots of rave reviews and testimonies of how good it supposedly is especially in children. So I'm beginning to think that maybe it doesn't do so well in adults compared to children due to the experience of this man. But funny thing is he says he may be willing to try it again to see if maybe he did something wrong the previous time. And he also admitted that he wasn't really consistent in taking the drug daily due to its very bitter taste. 1 Like |

Dioscovite is a natural supplement but it is possible-- though I've not heard of any-- for some people to react to it just as people react to certain food and even popular over the counter drugs like Panadol (Paracetamol) in very bad ways. Rare occurrences. About the taste, HE SHOULDN'T HAVE TAKEN IT DIRECT! The information on how to use it is in the information leaflet. It should be mixed with healthy juice or soup. Seems Dioscovite is getting scarce maybe because of the exchange rate. I've been advising people to buy as many as they could afford where it is available. Drug wholesalers are scared of losing money so they're cutting down importation. |

Been a while I made a post here. Let me share another good news. Another child with sickle cell crisis got rescued in less than 48 hours. Pain stopped, swollen feet normalized. That was reported today to me. |

omozu1:penilc v---- do you mean penicillin v? Vit. B and folic acid are given to boost red blood cell production because of continuous breakdown. Vit. C Promotes wound healing and is an antioxidant and can be helpful to people generally. Good to be used by people with chronic diseases generally, not just ss patients. They are not responsible for preventing or stopping sickle cell crisis Of course, taking adequate water, fresh fruits and vegetables are all encouraged healthy habits and helps strengthen the immune system to prevent infections etc(the external triggers for crisis) A lot of sickle cell patients are doing these and still come down with crises. Dioscovite deals with the root cause of ss crisis and helps prevent it or significantly reduce its frequency. |
