Good morning my car gurus,

I've noticed some powdery/whitish substance that is forming on my battery head... What could be causing this and what should I do?

Sulfation process

Take off battery terminals and have it thoroughly cleaned up. You can grease it up to prevent more corrosion after cleaning

Buy a bottle of coke drink the entire contents (save a cap full). Pour the remnant on the battery heads.

You forgot to add that he should rinse the dissolved salt on top of battery terminal/body properly with water, else there will be current drain across both terminal from the dried salt which is a conductor of current.

Happen to me, though I dissolved mine with baking soda. My battery started draining unusually till an electrician discovered the short circuit across the top of the battery.

I had the issue with my battery about 4 months back and after the mechanic applied some kind of lubricant, I haven't observed it till now. My battery is "follow-come" though... not like it matters, I guess.
