The Truth About Mtn's Awuf4u Package by adebobconed(m): 10:22pm On Oct 19, 2016
While surfing the internet in search of a good recharge package on MTN, I came across the Awuf4u pack whereby you load airtime with *888*pin# and you get 3 times bonus plus your original voucher value. It looked attractive so I gave it a try(though I doubted if it would profit me since MTN is involved) with a #100 recharge.

Truthfully I was given (100 * 3) 100 = #400, but it was in a separate account other than the main account (thats not really an issue though).
I decided to make an experimental voice call for analytical purposes and below is my discovery:

I called for 10 seconds and was charged #4.95
therefore a minute(60s) call would cost (4.95 * 60)/10 = #29.7 .
The whole #400 given would therefore make 400/29.7 = 13.468 minutes of voice call.

Ordinarily making a call of 1minute on Mtn zone plan(12k/s) would cost (12 * 60)/100 = #7.2 .
Therefore the #100 would make a call of 100/7.2 =
13.8888888 minutes.

Comparing the above results you can see that the MTN Awuf4u plan is a kinda scam since it ends up profiting MTN instead of the customer.

At last MTN showed once again that they don't have the interest of their subscribers at heart with this SUGAR-COATED Awuf4u package of theirs.

So guys beware o

Bro, you should have known long ago that MTN will give a Bible by their right hand and will hold a knife by their left hand... The funniest thing is that they won't reveal the call tarrif when advertising these scam bag plans

Even if my recharge value will be multiplied by 20 I won't try it with mtn. They are the most exploitative network in Nigeria. They put up flashy and attractive offers but below these are tissues of lies and deception. MTN can and will never concede a kobo to a subscriber! So selfish a network. I don't read their bonanza advert twice!

It's not a scam don't expect the tariff to be the same with MTN zone or other tariff plans. From your analysis it's obvious that the difference is not much and it's ok

Not OK

From his analysis above you would notice that the 'awof' plan would actually cost you more than most of the normal plans.

OP, you are smart by half somehow (no pun intended).

You have assumed MTN Zone is the plan everyone should be on and also forgetting that that plan has off peak and peak rates. Peak rate is around N16.8/min. Peak period is between 6pm and 6am. Meaning to make calls at N7.20 I have to do all my calls from 6am to 5.59pm.

Lastly, you are wrong about the minutes on the Awuf4U bonus.
The rate is N27/min which gives 14.8 minutes. So even by your own flawed calculations, you're still wrong.

OP, half smart people like you end up deceiving smart people who do not think for thmeselves

Are you saying if say for example, I recharge 1000 naira, I'll be given 4000 naira in my awuf account. Can't I use use the original 1000 naira to subscribe for monthly data of 1.5GB and be left with the remaining 3000 bonus for calls? Or I must be forced to use PAYG data browsing on this plan?

I give MTN awuf4u a trier, but i discovered it doesn't worth the name. It is like blessing you with right hand and taking it with left hand. For example, with MTN ipuls, i do pay 11kobo per second, and that will amount to #6.60k per munite. While the so call MTN awuf4u charge 46k per second and that will amount to #27.60k per munite. Here is my founding, MTN charge me four times what i use to pay for their so call awuf4u. I now discovered that of a truth awuf do purge. If you are on ipuls stay put and don't go for awuf, unless you want to purge your self.

I will advise anybody to stay off the plan because what I discovered was that it is from the "awoof" they will be charging your data usage notwithstanding how much data you have and at that rate, you will exhaust it before you open 2 pages of NL. Beware of MTN scam

Your 10 secs is counted as 11 in their meter. They start counting from the zeroeth value. So, 4.95รท11 = 0.45k/s. Have you cared to read their FAQs to know how this stuff work? There you'll see every detail. Give it a try.

The MTN Zone, is it still active? If so, do they charge 12k/s round the clock? The last time I checked, the cost might be so high that you'd have to wait for it to fall do low before you could make your call... Or have that changed too.

Granted, MTN freebies have a catch to it, but Awufu is a bit fair compared to Pulse or Beta talk.
