Amaechi: We Are Watching From The Watchtower

I am not surprised that my Lord justices of the Supreme Court fingered former governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in an attempt to bribe them and thereby sway the course of justice towards the direction of his party - the All Progressive Congress. Though, I considered their recent outburst as a little too late, considering that they would have perhaps died without exposing this alleged crime, had the Secret Service not punctured their tyres in a veiled anti-corruption sting.

I dare say that Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is a perfect example of who Governor Nasir El-rufai described as 'accidental public servant'. His brashness and profligacy, his crude and sanctimonious arrogance all paint him as a man who ought ordinarily not to hold any public position of trust.

Right from his 'accidental days' as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, he showed why he was a misadventure in public service. Traditional rulers, opinion leaders and other well respected individuals saw his disdain for respect for those ahead and below him. It was certainly for these that then President Olusegun Obasanjo described his emergence as the flagbearer of the PDP as having "K-Leg".

The man did not change even after he became the accidental governor of Rivers State following the unlawful sacking of Sir Celestine Omehia by the same Supreme Court Justices now accusing him of attempting to bribe them. Instead, he paraded himself as the "Prince" in the mind of Niccolo Machiavelli who must possess the art of war as a skill if he hopes to survive his throne.

During the eight years, he served as governor, the man unceremoniously collapsed the judiciary and the legislative arm with his executive. He made sure that, the judiciary never functioned, that the House of Assembly perform their legislative functions in his dining while he not only presides but also pontificates. The likes of Chidi Lloyd, Otele Amachree were his puppies, always willing and ready to dance naked not minding the glaring public eyes.

We were all witnesses to his brazenness and undiluted hated for due process. We saw how he crisscrossed the length and breadth of the country like Mallam Abu of "The African Night of Entertainment" seeking for a compromised jury who would play the devil's role in stopping the swearing in of the ambassador of the NEW Rivers vision, Chief Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. We saw his aloofness and disdain for a peaceful Rivers State under the PDP led government.

Surely, we are aware that Rivers State is without a legislator in the Senate because this self-styled 'Lion of Ubima' does not have the capacity to secure a win in his polling unit.

Assuredly, we shall all be alive to see how all these will end...

I have to say this is a very unfair and biased appraisal of amaechi. He did not collapse the judiciary, rather his then haters in abuja wanted to use the judiciary to destroy his tenure. Why should federal NJC be responsible for appointing judges to state high court when u have a State chapter of NJC. Are we not practicing federalism again. Pls the attack on this man is unwarranted and unfair. The truth is that his detractors hate him because the believe he was instrumental in kicking the ineffectual buffoon out of asorock.

And pls dont downgrade the justices lies. If someone truly bribed u, why did u keep quiet until u were raided and caught red handed with illicit funds. Was it amaechi that hid the money in ur house too?? Rubbish

please op just answer these questions.

why didn't the judges speak out at the time when they were offered the bribe__at least there is provision in the constitution that would have landed the minister in jail

why is it now that the judges are in the nets of the DSS that all of a sudden they started speaking___ is that not diversionary?

How are you sure they are speaking the truth______remember a drowning man may even clinch on straw in order to stay afloat

Ok let assume Amaechi did offer a bribe. Don't you think that the reason why they did not report him then was because they had collected a bigger bribe from the other party____It is said after all coming to equity one have to do so in clean hands.

Finally what makes you 100% sure that The transport minister did offered a bribe____Do you believe in unproven allegations?

good reply blackpanda
should I also remind the op that Amaechi still remain by far the best governor Rivers State have ever had. wike is just bent on destroying his legacies.
Op I challenge you to dispute this facts of governance between Amaechi and your soul called Nwike

Amaechi built hundreds of world class modern schools across the state. employed and train over 13,000 teachers to man the schools. Made it free of charge for the public providing books, school uniforms, sandals, and other kits free of charge to the students. wike the New Rivers came in and allow those beautiful schools to be overgrown by weeds and grasses, allowed the world class facilities in those school to rot, add a school fees of N11,000 lipsrsealed

Amaechi built over a hundred health institution with world class facilities across the state. train and employed over 400 doctors to man them. made the institution absolute free of charge for the public. Wike came in relegated his predecessor's dream adding premium charges for services in those institution albeit allowing the facilities in the institution to decay

Amaechi came in and give human capital development another meaning by Ramping the RSSDA activities to unprecedented level. sending hundred every year on scholarship in the best universities abroad. this he started in 2007 when he assume office___remember there was huge global recession during this period in addition to militancy activities and oil price was in all time low. Wike came, not only did he stopped it but he unceremoniously send all scholars abroad home with the guise that there is recession.

Amaechi revolutionize the agro sector with his songhire farm initiative, several agro plantation such as banana plantation, cassava plantation, palm plantation, etc, fish farms, poultry, pigry, etc. wike came in instead of consolidating on these wonder exploits he instead he was hell bent on destroying them. the huge banana plantation in Tai was gutted by mysterious fire, the buguma fish farm abandoned, so also all other agro stride by Amaechi were destroyed___ no wonder the Agric commissioner in Rivers (93.7 Saturday talk of the town program) while on live Radio 2wks ago said she have no idea how much was budgeted for agriculture ministry shocked

In terms of Infrastructure, before Amaechi came in there were barely any dualised state owned road with sub drainage system (just 2 without sub-drainage system.) Amaechi came and redefine road construction in Rivers State with expanded dualised roads, sub drainage system with pedestrian walk way. Wike came in and started doing open gutter with very low quality patched up roads sad

Amaechi came and stopped the pervading rascality tax regime characterized by various levies such as matching ground, various permit (operational, stove, gas, TV, etc) spear headed by the so called Obio Akpor boys the home town of the present governor. Now that that one of the very boys is in the government house there is no name we have not heard in the guise of tax (effluence discharge__punished for using gen set, fire tax__can say a word undecided, development tax sad etc)

do I need to remind all you Amaechi's apologists that the so called model schools Amaechi built were never good enough for the children of the commissioners and special advisers that served under him?
need I re-echo the fact also that the supposed health centres he built could not treat Late Rt Hon Tonye Harry and other aides of the administration?

It is never in doubt that Amaechi your hero left a legacy of corruption in Rivers State. The man deserve only kirikiri prisons and nothing more

Does it matter whether they exposed him then or now? are you alleging that Amaechi is not capable of doing so? Do you know how he procured the supreme court judgement that gave him victory against Omehia? Would you still defend him, when you see video footage?
