BeeBeeOoh:I don't know what is wrong with this people. When will they get it into their heads that Nigeria in its present situation can't own and.e effectively manage a national carrier. |

If the FG can't maintain the airports why would they be able to maintain a fleet of aircraft? The amount of money they need to spend to rehab a section of PH airport is enough to build a new airport. They need to enforce the passenger bill of rights instead of talking all this hot air about having a national airline and begging airline's to be flying luxurious planes on the Nigeria route. |

The greatest mistake this government made was anticorruption + forex control. Thats why Nigeria is in recession. As PDP lost to APC, a wise government would have left a free economy. That way all the PDP guys would have channelled their loot into investments through proxies inanticipation of 2019. They would have invested in Aviation, Agriculture, Stock Exchange, Oil & Gas downstream, Power, Manufacturing. They would have created more jobs. APC would then have looked like it was their own effort. It would have been a win-win scenario. |

this is rather confusing, this is a govt, who few days ago said it is concessioning all the internarional airports.......are they just looking for ways to spend and loot money and thereafter privatize the "national carrier" or they got plans to keep it as national lifter indeed?? am confused o. Cuz you cant throw airports to private hands and tell me you want a truly national and public carrier in place. . . . . . . . |

Nigeria govt has no business managing an Airline. Our govt cannot manage anything. Both govt & civil servants are too corrupt. Govt should provide an enabling environment & solid economic policies & let private sector run airlines. Not with tax tax payers' money. |

obailala:you have nailed the salient points my brother, during the days of The defunct Nigerian airways ministers, military officers and other so called Big men were fond of demanding free tickets and other perks Believe me nepotism and corruption really hampered the airline 's profits hope a competent private firm will be allowed to run the day to day operations of the airline govt should restrict it's participation to ownership of shares and providing the enabling environment for its smooth operations and other oversight functions |

Shinor:like the JV we had with Virgin Atlantic and Earo abi.. what is the definition of doing something same way and expecting different result? Ethiopian and Kenyan airline are the biggest in Africa I think. other prominent airlines include SA airline, morocco, Ghana, Algeria etc. I don't think those are JVs. A times airlines are national posters... even the father of capitalism invested in United airline |

realnas:Absolutely, this is the ONLY way anything government owned can succeed in Nigeria. I already weep for what the recently commissioned Abuja-Kaduna high speed train system would become in a few years. It was an ill-thought decision to leave the operation of those trains in the hands of government. During its commision, for obviously political reasons, Amaechi already announced a reduction in fares for the trains, that already is a disaster because instead of being an independent profit generating asset, the trains have already become resource sapping liabilities that would require budget allocation every year... |

modath:The national carrier won't be run by the government. I suspect that the FG may have a lower equity stake than the private partners. So it's likely that private investors would comprise the management team. |

For those that have a death wish, you can fly Nigeria airways. better take swimming lessons so in case the plane crashes over the Atlantic ocean you will be able to swim to shore. a country that cannot maintain ordinary chairs and desks wants to maintain an airline. |
| Re: Nigeria Commences Process To Kick-start New National Airline.. by Nobody: 8:38pm On Nov 03, 2016 |
FYI, the FG will own only 5% equity in the new airline |

Great, another state owned company. How well has that worked for us for the past 50 years? You would think that this country would learn from history but it refuse to do so. |

Horsesmouth:Wrong! fighting corruption was a good idea. You see corruption is like a highly virus and you must do whatever it takes to fight it whenever it gets into a system because it would destroy and contaminate anything it touches. Check this out and you would see what i am talking about? http://www.straitstimes.com/opinion/fight-against-corruption-singapores-experience Forex control on the other hand was a complete disaster. |

davidif:It won't be a state-owned company. The minister of state for aviation said the FG will only have 5% equity in the airline. |
