The unusual baby was allegedly delivered at a hospital in Kaduna on Thursday November 3. I hope doctors can give us explanation for this.

chisos!

Probably abortion gone wrong or some drugs used during the third trimester of the pregnancy!

Below is a perfect explanation by a Doctor
PipSurgeon:

this is the Harlequin baby. the condition is called icthyosis. mostly autosomal recessive disorder. comes in different degree and type.. the only ish is the skin and its appendages.. we manage one abt 3months ago and she did well. u need to nurse in a incubator use petroleum jelly generously. the infolded eyelid (ectropium) usually resolve spontaneously. the hard leatherlike skin will peal off and normal skin may follow depending on the variant of icthyosis.. supportive care is the main stay

It's a medical condition that effected the skin from developing properly..

I'm not a medical person but I think this baby for the rest of her life would end up in the hospital..

This is a very serious medical condition because, the white areas are like scales, it form a hard (nail-like) structures and can be very painful and would certainly effect the proper development of certain areas of her body..

They will need to be greasing the whole of her body for her to be experiencing some comfort..

Anytime oil dried from her skin and the scales drys she is gonna be in serious pain and discomfort...

May God be with her and give her parentso courage to strand down this though journey...

This nonsense you dropped here has no bearing with the condition of this innocent sweet baby, this is a genetic malfunctioning and could happen to anyone..

Her condition is not strange to the medical world (Maybe in Nigeria) but certainly well know and research are going on in many international labs as we write to really discover why the genes could distort to this extent..

Jesuuuu, this is really bad, I don't think her eyes will be functional, men this is really bad. Wish her God's help, because from my view man has limited help to offer her.

I don't know what it is but I think it's a normal. I have never seen anything like this.

God Almighty will never allow any of us to give birth to a child like this. Can somebody say amen?

Yet, no meaningful explanation!

There are different explanations which could have caused this. No one is certain if the disorder is genetic cos you have been unable to tender a definite prove yourself .

If anyone is calling for an intellectual and social decorum in a forum like this, not the macaque in you.
You have run foul of every exhibition of decorum.

eff off!

I can't imagine the trauma the parent and the child will go thru .. I wish I am allowed to have an opinion... I will recommend euthanasia..... the child doesn't deserve to suffer in this world... being born a Nigerian in this recession is too much suffering already

They could be right madam. It is likely the effect of unsuccessful attempts via drug usage taken by the mom to undo the baby.

Or are you in your almighty intellectual sense saying that this is genetic? ie that someone in the lineage of this baby had this condition?

Please is there a cure? Can the baby grow to reach adulthood or should she be humanely put to sleep? The poor girl would be in pains no?

Pastor Sulaimon mentioned this sometimes in the past embarassed

Anyway heavy dose of antibiotics and direct sunlight in Kaduna would eliminate the devil impairing the physical outlook of the child undecided

That's the skin condition called Harlequin Ichthyosis. It's an autosomal recessive disorder, meaning to suffer from it, the child's parents both have the abnormal gene( meaning they are likely to be of same ancestor). Say no to Incest!
