As an atheist, you choose your own purpose. You make your own meaning. You select what is important to you, and then you pursue it. You plan your own legacy. This is certainly harder than going to church and living according to the teachings of your pastor, but it's more rewarding.

Even insane or mad folk do what you highlight, is there anybody living without purpose?

Religion doesn't stop anyone from purposeful life, in fact God created all for a purpose.

From stone that a driver pickup in the bush to wedge is motor to Olumo Rock that look as if some ancient giant arrange them.

Let me ask you this question: Do you appreciate nature? or just take it as is?

It's the illusionary hope of some paradisic place after physical death, that has deluded so many adherents into the evils of:

Intolerance
Hate
Disrespect for privacy
Terrorism
Defeatism
Primitiveness etc

It's a long therapy sessions to rehabilitate a man that is hooked chronically on mental enhancing substance.
If you withdraw the substance drastically, you make the man feel like fish outside water.

That's the same process for rehabilitating religious mind to rational mind

Like Seun said, a rational life demands more personal responsibility than some idiotic cravings.

This thread is pretty sad honestly It's sad that you've been so thoroughly brainwashed by religion that you genuinely can not percieve value in life outside of the belief in an eternal "paradise" which you don't even have the slightest evidence for. It's sad that you can so easily devalue the only life you are guaranteed to have, for the false promise of another "better one" that supposedly lasts forever (which in itself devalues life - if it lasts forever it really isn't precious). The epitome of greed & taking life for granted.

It's also possible that you're being intentionally obtuse, pretending that you don't know that people other than Christians can be happy and live meaningful lives, despite evidence all around the world that that is the case.

All I will say is that meaning and fulfillment are accessible to humans regardless of religious belief, and far before Christianity came along your ancestors had it too. We're biologically predisposed to derive satisfaction from forming social links, expanding our knowledge and taking actions that lead to the betterment of those around us. Empathy, that's the key. If you lack that then you're going to have a hard time in life, Christian or not.

And that you're trying to paint this picture that Christians are all happy and satisfied because of promise of heaven is a joke. Christians can be incredibly greedy, spiteful, and self-centered, showing clear dissatisfaction with their lives and lack of purpose. And praying to a God for stuff rather than working hard for it yourself seems like the opposite of purposeful (not saying all Christians do that, but many do).

I will first of all bring your knowledge to something you been missing...which is who is a Christian?..I realize that you guys for what ever reason, have refused to understand that..Christianity means Christ like so therefore a Christian is he or she who act according to the teachings of Christ.note:-not every one that calls him self Christian that is Christ like.so in the process of accessing Christians I will advice you first of all go trough the bible to note the life of Christ as recorded in the scriptures.. if a Christian has not seen God has it not been writing that Christ did?..if a Christian show more interest in spirituality that is because Christ instructed them to do so.if a Christian has not been able to prove the existence of God,to you'have you come to Christ and he did not prove it to you?..NO!..WHY?..because you have decided to accept without proof that an unintelligent matter created it self and letter created you but refused to believe that an intelligent God created you..you will agree with me that the theory of evolution has been the center of argument and conflict between scientist and there like..if not so tell me how we got here on the basis of course..you guys believe that everything has a beginning but matter,..what ever that means" has no beginning.. back to some Christian are not living a meaningful life..I will tell you authoritatively that all Christians live a meaningful live..this is because Christians not church goers believe that,the world we live in is a passage into the real life so there fore all they do is meaningful to there purpose of achieving the end results,which your opinion doesn't count.."EVERLASTING LIFE "
