What is the purpose of being self sufficient in food production if the food produced is more expensive than the one it replaces?

The primary cause of hunger is not a lack of food but rather a lack of money. How will paying premium prices for food help the poor?

Non-affordable food is the big issue many Nigerians are facing, that is why l don't get carried away when figures are being reeled out that Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa, bla,bla, bla! Those figures makes no sense if many Nigerians are hungry because what is in their pockets cannot afford the market price of foodstuffs.

Which school did you attend. Can't you see the 1000 written in bracket at the top? It simply means you multiply all the values you see there by 1000. Which means China produces 144,000,000 not 144,000.

Next time, give it to literate people to help you interpret data if you don't know how to.

I am not a buhari supporter at all, but you just goofed. Are u sure you went to school at all? Even a secondary schl student knows how to interpret tables. Look at the header of the column did you notice that 1000? It means what ever is under that column shld be multiplied by 1000, so 144,000 X 1000= 144,000,000 tonnes. Do you understand now?

How can china be producing 144,000 tonnes in a whole year with their population of about 2 billion people and yet they still export to other countries? Use your brain.
I don't like buhari because he is handling the economy very badly but it shld not be enough reason to turn to an idiot because I want to label him as bad.
That 1million tonne is very achievable under a year, consult with those who are farmers. It is because we don't practice mechanized farming at an industrial level here. A single farm can produce that amount. Just google the largest farms in the world and you will be shocked. There are farms that are over 1 million hectares. That is over 12million plots of land owned by just 1 person.

1 million tonnes a single farm can produce. He shld go and check canadian and american farms how they produce millions of tonnes of wheat all from a single farm. Don't we have fertile lands or what makes it impossible. All we need is commitment and government shld help with mechanization, processing and storage.

Cross check the fact you presented. China produces 144,560 x 1000 metric tones annually. That translates to 144.5 million metric tones. Kebbi has only produced 1 million metric tonnes. So it is logical.
