I want to ask if this is correct. Is there no other immunization before that? If there is, pls let me know which one and when to take it.

Yes, the immunization card has it but they don't book it at Government hospital. In fact, I asked for clarification that day we took our 14 weeks vaccine to be sure if they are not making mistake, cos the next appointment they booked was 9 months. May be not everywhere sha.

There is for 12 months, but they booked us for 15 months. And I took my time to ask those that have older child than my boy in the church, they said its always for 15 months and that is when the immunization certificate will be given.

We use Lagos state health center,and as far as am concerned, its a public place. Anyway to cut long story short,we have been booked for six months already. And checking my card,its for vitamin A.

I only talk based on my experience at two government hospital, University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti and FMC KEFFI.

I use UCH n we were asked to come @ five n half months instead of six. on getting there what we had was a weaning class in preparation for introducing solids to our los. vit A was given at nine months. just to prepare Ur mind sha in case u get there n meet something else.
on my card too vit A was indicated for six months but iv heard from several people dt its now given at nine months. I don't know if d change is everywhere or just some selected places.

lol na real confusion everywhere. My son took the first dose of Vit. A at 6 months, first measles vaccine at 9 months. They used to give 2nd measles vaccine + 2nd Vit.A dose (I think) at 1yr but they told us at 9 months that it's now until 18 months n I know some r still giving at 1yr

Someone should recommend drugs/food supplements can I give to my new born baby to help him grow tall and big.

Formula or breastmilk is all a newborn needs, feed on demand or every two hours.

Being tall is purely genetical.

It's gripe water. I used it sha, but on this thread we've agreed to disagree that it's a placebo.

In my opinion your best bet against colic is burping the child properly and constantly. I might not be the best person to give advice, because I'm suspecting I had it easy.

I burped him all the time, whenever he acted gassy I gave gripe water, and it was easier for him to burp and fart. Also elevated his head whenever possible. Then bicycle riding with his legs.

And burping. There was a time all I did was burp him. I even developed extra muscles.

my lo also.. took the ist dose of vit A at six months n d 2nd dose is for 9months.

You can give him paracetamol before going, you can back him to calm him down in case of fussiness after the immunization.

How long (days) has he been coughing? Does the cough sound "chesty"? If yes, go back and complain to your doctor as he might prescribe mild antibiotics.

Buy metholatum (the very mild one) and apply it on his chest, sides, back and feet after every bath.

Give him paracetamol shortly before he gets the immunisation jabs.

In addition to what the other ladies have posted, apply Vaseline on your baby's bum/genetials/thighs after EVERY diaper change. Vaseline acts as a barrier and it's every effective in preventing nappy rash. In addition to this, stick to the same diaper brand. Since you've figured the brand that's best for her skin, stick to it and do not keep changing brands.

There's no need for multivitamins or vitamin C for a child below 6 months. Such drugs are only recommended after 6 months and it's optional. Once weaned, if baby is well fed a variety of meals(solids, breast milk, formula) there's really no need for multivitamin syrup as they are already fortified (especially formula) with all the essential vitamins and minerals a baby needs.

Regarding bottle feeding, you just have to keep trying till she adapts. This is one of the reasons working mums are advised to introduce bottle feeding early so that the baby's routine won't be affected too much once the mum is through with her maternity leave and resumes back at work.

She's sweating because she's hot. Wear light vest for her and there's no need to overdress her, wrap her in a shawl or wear her a woollen hat.
