You do not have to shoot a person or stab him with a knife before you know that you have killed him. What people are trying to say is that the Nigerian Army is the cause of the Pastors death. If you had kept your CROCODILE SMILE abi TEARS in the creeks, this pastors life will have been spared.

Won't be surprised if Army is not telling the truth.

1.Family did not report the case to Police...but were negotiating with the kidnappers

2.Kidnappers probably threatened them that if they call the law...there would be repercussions.

3.Unfortunately, Army is operating in area where kidnappers have their hideout.

4.Kidnappers, thinking that the family has called the law....kills the victim.
I like your imagination

Okay. Recovered from where? The creek?
By the way that confirms what the military is saying that they didn't kill the Pastor.

When the family wanted the body, the millitary linked them to youths who combed the bush for the body. What does that mean? That they brought back the body after the operation or left them to rot in the bush?

That is because he was killed by the militants and dumped in the creek. Isn't that simple enough.

Sometimes, we as Nigerians display ignorance when we refuse to report issues that has to do with security matter. Why would the family not report to police about his kidnap. What they are trying to avoid eventually happened . If the police were aware, they would have passed the information to the commander of the operation crocodile smile, this would have made them to be more careful while conducting the operation. They were only doing their job of fishing out militants who are at the same time kidnappers, so they will be ready to shoot if there is any resistance. Well I pray that God will comfort the family, it not an easy thing to loose a relative. But we should always put sentiments aside and report issues that has to do with security to appropriate authority.

ChangeIsCostant:
The Nigerian Army has released a press statement to deny a report that soldiers killed an abducted pastor after labeling him a militant. Read the full details below;

The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a publication on Premium Times website titled “INVESTIGATION: How Nigerian Army ‘killed’ kidnapped pastor and labelled him militant”.

Ordinarily one would not have bothered to respond to that obvious mischief, but for the erroneous impression being created by the so-called “investigative” report in the minds of well meaning Nigerians.

This report just like several others by the medium, were part of systematic and sustained efforts aimed at denigrating the Nigerian Army and tarnish its image.

The Nigerian Army did not kill the pastor as alleged, rather, he was killed by his captors who realized that troops were closing on them during precursor to Exercise CROCODILE SMILE. It is therefore very mischievous for anyone to ascribe his death to the troops.

The Nigerian Army is a thorough professional organization with clearly stipulated rules of engagement which is being followed to the letter in any given operation or exercise.

For the avoidance of doubt, based on information received, a raid was carried out on a suspected militant camp in Mbelekuru Creek, Ogbogoro Community of Obiakpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on 26th August 2016. During the raid, 5 suspected militants were killed, 23 of them were arrested and 11 Pump Action Rifles, 2 AK-47 Rifles, 1 Locally Made Revolver Pistol, 292 Cartridges, 99 Rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 1 AK-47 magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 3 Power generating sets, 1 camp Gas cooker, 2 shovels, 3 Cutlasses, 1 rain boat, 1 hand bag containing 2 mobile telephone handsets, 1 wristwatch, a photograph, 11 mobile telephone handsets, 3 INEC voters cards, 2 SIM cards and 1 memory card were recovered.

It is therefore unimaginable for the troops to kill an innocent person.

A day after, press release was issued to this effect. Days later, a female serving Nigerian Air Force officer reported that her relative whom she identified as Mr. Andrew Anthony, a pastor of a church was killed during the raid and that he was not a militant.

Contrary to insinuations by the medium, other family members confirmed that they never reported the kidnapping of Mr. Andrew to the police. Rather, they were negotiating with the kidnappers on their own without recourse to any security agency before the raid on the militants camp.

The Nigerian Army did not release the photograph of the victim nor referred to him as a militant.

The Headquarters 2 Brigade Nigerian Army also supported the family by linking them up with youth leaders that assisted in identifying and retrieving the corpse of the late pastor.

The attempt to portray the Nigerian Army in bad light by labelling it killer of a pastor and manipulation of information by the Premium Times is totally unacceptable.

The public is therefore enjoined to disregard the publication in its entirety as it is an attempt to blackmail the Nigerian Army and destroy its hard earned reputation, more so as further investigation has been directed by the Chief of Army Staff on the issue.

You are please requested to disseminate this information to the public through your medium.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman
Acting Director Army Public Relations

The problem is that we don't have forensic Lib, if there was an adequate investigations i'm sure they might have found one or two bullet in the man's body that will be tested for the ballistic finger print of the bullet, that would have determined the gun that kill this man.

I'm sure your brother did not say that about today's Nigeria.

Was it not the same army that denied they arrested about 70 community youths in Enugu state who planned to resist the herdsmen that invaded their village. Yet, after two weeks of the denial the Stste governor had to step in and bailed them after they were taken to court.

Forget the mass reckless propaganda that has suddenly become normal in this country.

Please reason this well. The Nigerian Army said while ENGAGING the militants, they killed 5, while the militants killed the pastor. They knew the pastor was a victim, they say his dead body but left it there. They also left the bodies if those they killed there.
Question for you. Since the Army claimed the militants killed him, is it right to leave the body there? Please go and read the story of the pastor's family. What they went through. Let's call a spade a spade please. There way they handled the matter was wrong. The way they left bodies to rot in the bush was wrong. Even criminals deserves decent burial
