Then how are you calculating? Mind you it's 30k and not 23k

They have 22 workings which is from 8-2pm and have the rest of the day to do something meaningful with their life..

Beside why are you guys hard to please? GEJ SURE-P is just paying 10k and your guys applaud him.

don't you know that 70% of nairalanders are teenagers? some of them are still battling with WAEC or JAMB or better still struggling in one tertiary institution or the other. they don't know what responsibility is all about. they are still being spoon fed by their parents so, they can come online to always spew rubbish. by their comments you will always know them.

You got it!!!

So because pple r doing N18k job N30k is cool. Do u understand what it is to be "Gainfully Employed"?

Oga, why are you taking Panadol for another persons headache? Those who have been selected are on the other thread rejoicing and thanking God, you are here complaining about something you don't need. My first paid job as a graduate some 11 years ago was a paltry 18k that just barely covered for transport and lunch, but I know how far i have come since then. Everybody must start from somewhere, even if it is little begins. Mind you, it is a voluteer scheme with a time frame. It's not a long term job. It's just a start. Some of those taking these jobs have never worked a day in their life since graduating.

Bros N18k 11years ago is like N60k today and can match it in buying power. That money is just too small FG can double that pay without feeling it.

Bro forget that thing o. I spent N600 per day on transport and lunch even back then. That's 12k for 20 working days leaving me with just 6k. Point is even then that money could not rent a house, buy designer clothes or do some of the other things you mentioned. Agreed, the money is small, but it's a start. A prudent person who is single can save a decent sum for a start-up business within that 2-year period.

And why would I lie? Seriously bro 18k was nothing to write home about in 2005. Don't make the mistake of thinking it was. NYSC allowee back then was already like 7-8k. I lived in Idimu then and worked in Gbagada. You want me to do a breakdown of my daily transport fare for you to believe?

How much is the same t-fare now. How much was rent, food, clothing, communication, drugs, water, electricity compared to now? These things are basic needs that influence general cost of living.

You seem to miss the point of my initial post. Let me reiterate again. Yes, the amount is small, but it is a start. You keep talking about rent, food, clothing etc. Now the question is, those who applied for this scheme and have been rejoicing since for being selected, how have they been surviving when they were not earning a penny? Would you advice them to pass on this opportunity and remain jobless because the pay is small?

In today's Nigeria, the minimum wage is still 18k, and I know of contract bank tellers who earn 50-60k per month. I know of private school teachers who earn 20-30k per month. And they are graduates. One can always start with the available, gain work experience and then move on to the desirable.

And lastly, this is a 2-year scheme, not a permanent job. It will only equip participants with training and work experience for future opportunities. The 30k is a stipend, not a salary as such.

You seem to have forgotten my initial post too. I never asked the applicants to reject or not rejoice over it. I am simply saying the govt can very easily afford to pay them double or triple that amount(30k). FG's wage bill per month is N159bn alone. 200,000 N-power applicants earning at most, let's say N100k, can only amount to a maximum of N20billion per month.
Get it? There is room for improvement here.
I will even suggest the govt improves the money to N45k-N60k and encourage applicants to go for extra-hour teacher training.

Speak for yourself. No business minded person will take a job of 30k i tell you. That money is not even enough for me to spend in a week. I am still talking about 50k as not being enough, someone is shoving 30k to myself. What sort country is this?

I made as much as 400k last month on my own and already blew 250k of that money on house project.

WTF are u talking about? The problem is large scale ignorance and people do not realise yet that they can actually earn MORE than that, even 4X that amount.

Nigerians financial intelligence is the key please. Help people solve yearning problems and watch your bank account swell.
ok u are into MMM and u believe, u've gotten a job. To find out,ur name is on the list an I know u will be among the first set that will go for the registration. Guy, lets reason like someone who knows how to appreciate. If the job doesn't pays you, others appreciate it coz they have nothing to live on.

in my own opinion, if u dnt like d offer reject am after all, administrations were b4 d present administration, richer than this administration, yet nothing good comes out of it nd you knw as little as others knw that they said half bread is always better than non.
I wouldn't be surprised if I'm told the person condemning this job is still in the secondary school, who doesn't knw what nd hw it feels like to be a graduate for three whole years without a job.
