Hello wonderful mamas. From when my son was 6 weeks old i have being using general hospital for immunization .He is presently a year and 1 month and he is due for the next stage of immunization which is from 12 months to 15 month and consist of MMR1,chicken pox1,pneumococcal congugate4,MMR2,chicken pox 2.I went to the general hospital for enquiries and the nurse at the immunization center said they dont give all these vaccines instead they would give only vitamin A for that age and i was like wth but it is wrritten in the card. The nurse insisted that the vaccines are listed is not so neccessary and other children that hasnt been given hasnt died.Mama please is the nurse right? Am contemplating on going to a private hospital for it.

Secondly my son had never been given Pneumococcal congugate since he was born but the private hospital i went to make enquiries for these vaccines above said that he should take the Pneumococcal congugate 4 which am having second thoughts about. Please is it right?

Sorry for the long post mamas.

Chai. That nurse deserves a big slap. Child mortality rates in nigeria is one of the highest in the world which isn't surprising when for example a nurse that should know better is suggesting that very important vaccines should be ignored.

Please go to the private hospital and take all the vaccines listed for your son's age.

Later today, I will post all the vaccines my son has received so far. Maybe that will help some mums know what vaccines they still have outstanding.

Realsupermum your son is supposed to take all that, go to a good government hospital or private. I use a govt hospital and they give all the vaccines you listed.

*sighs*

They did the right thing though by taking her to the hospital.

I watched a report on tv a few months ago on a toddler that swallowed a watch battery. The battery eroded her throat and she had a very long stay in hospital with doctors battling to save her life and carrying out surgery to fix her osephagus.

The programme went further and carried out an experiment. A battery was placed on a piece of ham and water was poured on it. In few minutes, the battery had literally burnt a hole through the ham.

After watching that programme, I binned every single watch battery I could find in the house.

realsupermum I can't remember all the vaccines but I think you should go to a Private Hospital and get the ones GH won't give. I know Pneumoccocal is important.

Adaobifelix, I don't know any new vaccines at 7 months. Perhaps find out the name and ask a Dr?

Is the pneumococcal conjugate4 same as pneumococca booster ? Cos that's what they called it in the hospital I use for immunization.
They should be able to let you know if you can take it or not but I think pple that didn't take the previous 3doses were given the booster cos it's free now. not sure again.

Trying to change his diaper after he has poohed. My baby will just be flinging his legs up and down. He ends up staining his clothes, his changing mat and soiling his hands.

My baby likes to pull out the drawers in his cabinet. He will pull them out, climb inside, throw out all the clothes and when he's done he will use the clothes as rags.

Electric wires, putting on and off the stabilizer seems to be his new rave.

DS has a particular attraction for footwears . If it is to only touch, I won't mind but putting in his mouth.

Thank God he has come to understand my threats on this matter.

Before, he no go even send me , till I go and remove it myself but this evening, on noticing my presence, he quickly dropped it and changed position. I thought I was imagining things so I gave a space of time and appeared again, still dropped and changed position. #gonnacontinuewithtapsonthebum

Certain it was an oversight not intentional( as regards not answering your questions)

You could check the position he is being fed, something should work out. I usually stroke DS back with my finger gently while feeding.

As regards non removal of breast, you will have to remove still.

Have you tried bottle feeding?

For the cries, I am sure you have tried rocking him to stop.

You can let someone else carry him or distract him with something else.

Keep trying ma'am.

Mamas will contribute their suggestions too

Please dont decieve ypurself oh! There is no such thing as "monitor all the time"
It is easy to assume accidents happened because we as the parents were not the ones watching, or criticize others as we feel they may not have been alert or vigilant .
But we all need to be honest wih ourselves that a lot can happen even in the 1min 27 secs it takes you to go to the loo and pee like you are trying to put out a fire.

We should just ensure we do the best we can, remove all harzards and reduce the risk of any accidents as best as we can. And pray that those we leave to care for our children share the same level of caution that we have or are even better.

Iya treasure, from my little experience, i feel he might be sucking in d breast milk so fast cos of hunger, try to hold the breast and press gently while he sucks so that he wont gulp so much at once. Also, you can time to feed him instead of him getting so hungry thereby rushing d milk. About not removing the breast, its cos he isn't filled lol, just gently remove the breast at intervals, try to burp or rub his back, then resume feeding again. Its well dear. Other mamas, abeg chook mouth for this matter.

of course one can't monitor all the time.. didn't mean it literally. ..

but I know what I meant. . nobody can take better care of a baby than the mother or have that sort of attachment a mother does. .
I feel bad and somewhat scared that I will be leaving my lil boy soon to start work..

but as I said before. .God help us and fill in our inadequacies/gaps. ..
