I think it's the 'wrong' upbringing some men have.
That crazy saying 'Okunrin ma ni' which makes some parents overlook whether the guy can cook or take care of his home, they feel he doesn't need to. Some people get to Uni and find it hard to cope, depending on bukaterias or one girlfriend or the other for food, those that try can put together unpalatable concoctions in the name of food, that's not good enough.

I believe it's important both gender learn the art of cooking.It's not rocket science, for your own good and sustenance and definitely not gender based.
For you to know how to eat, you have to know how to cook too, no excuse. And the parents have a lot to do in this regards, how will your Child leave your home and not be able to put together a meal? That's just somehow.
