Nothing spoil ! We still top the table and at the same time our girls and their coaches have realised that winning this tournament isn't going to be a walk in the park. Expect a better performance in next match. Sorry for those who lost money betting, you never factored in that our girls will be playing against 12 people on the field (if you count the referee) 2 Likes |

Toyin001: I don hear sir but that's the bitter truth if they play as they played the Ghanian. The camerounian team are more deadly than our the Ghanian team, go and re-watch their matches. The technical crew just need to review the game and correct their mistakes. @PROVERBZ Ghanians has been known as a rebel against their neighbors. They also joined hand against senegal, that says it all. |

One thing have noticed in this competition is very bad officiating. we had a clean penalty not given by the ref. In most of the matches, they are always giving wrong calls. The cameroon group are playing on better pitch than the nigeria group. wont be surprise if we upgrade our game once we moved there. courtesy cafonline.com Florence Omagbemi (Head Coach, Nigeria) The game was great and both teams played well. Ghana gave us a good match and it was an impressive game. The foul on Asisat Oshoala was a clear penalty in my own assessment. I was disappointed in the referee not making the call. We were not over confident after the 6-0 victory over Mali. Today, we played against a good team and it was a good match by both teams. A draw (1-1) is not a bad result. We played well and were not expecting to draw. I’m looking forward to the game with Kenya and get a good result. We just want to play convincingly against Kenya and hopefully top the group. Yussif Basigi (Head Coach, Ghana) We are not happy to draw, but it is good to draw when the need arises. Ghana versus Nigeria can go either way. If for any reason we draw, we have to take it in good faith. Against Mali, Nigeria opened up but against us it was very close. The competition is still on. We have to approach the Mali with all the seriousness to win and qualify convincingly. 1 Like |

A lot of football nerds are on nairaland, someone talked about using wing backs which is very exciting but 3-4-3 needs a very disciplined and organised back line, you can't just switch to it mid tournament it's too risky even though I think we have the players for it. The coach uses a very balanced approach to her formation, she doesn't use any over zealous attacking midfielder just central midfielders that hold and release the ball and are always there to support the back line, the Ghanians crowded the middle I think they used just a forward, they didn't give our mid field space and time to pick out passes and hold the ball comfortably, their full backs didn't attack at all they constricted us to the middle wonderful play from them. I felt she could have removed a winger for an attacking midfielder(Okobi) to add more bodies for us in the middle, bring creativity and also to push the ball closer to the opponents box, then have a front two who hang around the center defenders pushing them back, waiting for through balls because I saw a lot of space between the Ghanian defenders but we kept throwing the ball up and wide (kinda lazy tactics and easy to kill) which they prepared for and dealt with accordingly. For me it was a very exciting tactical battle, that we even had a chance shows just how talented our ladies were, they reacted to what the Ghanians did, Wogu kept coming to midfield to assist and push the ball forward, Ordega kept coming into the 8 position to hold the ball, but they kept returning to the original formation which wasn't working, am sure they are all very exhausted. The women's game in Africa has so much improved, Ghana has built a fantastic system, all there female teams were so tactical I watched them at the junior world cups, they don't have the talent but modern football has taught us organisation and tactics(Germany vs Brazil) trumps talent I hope the coach watches the match again and come up with a better response next time. 3 Likes 1 Share |

youngbest:Yeah thank you very much, it was a good game after all, now we can review our tactics, Ghana won the tactical battle but talent saw us through. Against the likes of Germany, talent would not be enough, but still it was a good game for the tournament. Nigeria is still good to go in my opinion, we have very pacy forwards but we need to learn how to build up play efficiently rather than those long balls from midfield. The team is not there yet, but the hunger, desire and talent shows. It is certainly going to be a Nig- Cameroon final, the Cameroonian weakness is a that their final crosses and final balls are poor and they struggle to bury their chances, they are OK but not as good as most people make them out to be. 1 Like |

lakesidepapa:Apologies for being harsh anyway... But I easily get irritated when someone talks like that, saying Nigeria will be beaten blue-black... Fumbling in a game helps a tournament greatly, if you continue winning uncontrollably, your first fumble may be in a critical stage... Look at the immediate U17 , they fumbled to Croatia and went on with an organized defense, keeping 3 clean sheets out of the remaining 4 matches they played.. There's still room for improvement so I still have great believe in the girls... |

Toyin001: I will add that the US women's team won the World Cup last year, despite playing a 1-1 draw with in the group stage. The Super Eagles won the 2013 AFCON after drawing their first two matches. Germany won the world despite a "disappointing" 2-2 draw with...Ghana So, I'm still backing the Super Falcons to win the tourney 1 Like |

Sometimes i wonder why many have resulted to fuss to castigate a team after playing a draw,do we conclude that because a team is tagged favourite all the opponents should'nt give their best or try to win against the favourite?why the competition when we think the team should just stroll past all its opponents?the fact remains that, the fans complaining about the draw are either novice to competition or shallow in their thinking.I read some people complaining about the non inclusion of Oparanozie in the first match, why is their tactics, why is their formation if i may ask?in football group stage most team will never fields their best eleven, they will try out another formation, try out few other players,it is not the best to play your best eleven in all matches, what of if there is injury?well,in competition most teams improved as matches progressed and Nigeria is not an exception. What went wrong yesterday was simple for everyone to deduce, some players are played outside of their post, the team got abit carried away after winning their first match 6-0,the referees decision atimes is under par.The next game of Nigeria vs Kenya may give you guys an insight into what the team should look like and i write here before then that the worst scoreline is 4-0.Novice fans are quick to condemn a good team, this was what happened during last year FIBA africa nations cup when D'tigers lost to Tunisia in the group game.D'tigers coach intelligently told his guys not to play to their potentials, they should just keep the score close and honourable while Tunisia took the game as a do or die affair, two things happened,Tunisa got burnt out before playing Senegal and Angola while Nigeria remain fresh to deal with other opposition.Yes,the Falcons coach tried out a new system which never worked and we got a draw, which wasn't a bad result. Ghana should watch out against Mali and Nigeria should do more damage to Kenya whom i see as the weakest team in the group.Till after the next game against Kenya,we will know who the super falcons team are. 1 Like |

EMIOMOADEOYE: A wing back is a winger that plays from the back. Normally all wingers are required to track back to help the left or right back. it is something all wingers can do. This means you can play 3 center backs when your not under pressure and the wing backs join the attack in order to have superior numbers when attacking also when defending there will be five at the back. That is the basic plan of the 3-4-3 formation. 1 Like |

wizjid69: You know there is a reason why Coaches have jobs. For your information a wing back is not a winger. A wing back is a defender. If you play a 3-4-3 it means you essentially run a 3 man defense and your major focus is on attack. If at all anybody up front is joining up in defense it will be your middle man who will drop in the anchor position so your defense can widen out. The whole point of a 3-4-3 is to be able to transit quickly from defense to attack while have as many men upfront to pick up aerial balls. In a gradual build up of play and in a counter attack, you would have a lot of attacking options up front. A winger is not expected to track back. He is the main outlet of attack so how can he track back? The full backs are the ones who may sometimes be required to provide overlapping runs as support for wingers in an attacking run. Once an attack run is foiled or executed a full back would return to cover the opposing wide man. A winger generally usually lacks the capacity to function in defense. When last did you see a Messi, or a Bale, or a Sanchez, or a Marco Reus in the defence line of their team. If that happens na im be say water don pass garri |

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says the “door is always open” for Steven Gerrard to return to the club in a coaching role. The former Reds captain announced his retirement from professional football on Thursday, ending an illustrious 18-year playing career which started at Anfield back in 1998. Gerrard has been repeatedly linked with a return to his boyhood club and Klopp says he would be happy to help the former England international make the transition into coaching, if it is his preferred career choice. lakesidepapa:I just saw their game against Zimbabwe, they have problems with their final balls and are not that technical, they may be able to beat these falcons, but to say they would beat them blue black is what l don't get, the Cameroon l've been seeing are not that better than the falcons, or is it just me? |
