A UK Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer has been towed back into port just two days after it sailed, following a total propulsion failure while taking part in NATO exercises.

The HMS Duncan is believed to have suffered total propulsion failure after leaving Davenport naval base on November 20. The 4,500 ton hi-tech ship ran into trouble off the Devon coast as it was taking part in maneuvers part of the Flag Officer Sea Training program.

This is the latest in a series of electrical failures to leave the warship without propulsion and unable to fire its weapon systems.

The billion-dollar destroyers were meant to revolutionize naval warfare with greater anti-craft and anti-missile clout, but it soon became apparent that they are unable to reliably operate in warmer waters like the Mediterranean or the Gulf.

The Royal Navy originally wanted 12 Type 45s, but ended up with only six of the destroyers at a cost of US$1.45 billion each.

DDG1000 is simply to complicated and to expensive to actually be useful!! In fact the whole project was a colossal waste of money!

Sadly this is the world we live in, these "high tech modern vessels" are breaking down and they just down play the whole thing and handle it lowkey.

lol there is (technically atleast for me ) grin

indian SLR Rifle 7.62 mm 1A1 is a reverse engineering of the UK L1A1 self-loading rifle which again is a derivative of FN FAL. insas uses a manual gas regulator, similar to that of FN FAL / SLR .

visually i dont know or no comments grin grin grin grin

in the video u can see the almost zero recoil of the insas LMG in full auto (one reason is the use of 5.56mm ammo)

in indian army in the past modernized bren LMG from WW2 was used till few years , funny thing was the machne gunner was taught to use it for sniper fire also.

this practice is also used in the insas LMG which is very accurate to allow for sniping , many will find it surprising though grin

increased uses / effectiveness of a weapon depends on the ways the army (user) operationalizes / uses it

dumbass video maker dont know the difference between burst and auto angry

You spoke my mind. It would have been a breaking news and CNN with pseudo-defence analysts claiming how sh*tty the design is or how inferior the propulsion system is.

God help if it were a Russian ship.... grin grin it would have been a made house and a hot topic debate issue.

Damn hypocrites!
