To put how much bigger Nigeria is to Kenya in perspective, The GDP and infrastructure in each of the 6 geopoltical zones of Nigeria is bigger than the present day Kenya.

In other words, if Nigeria breaks up today along the 6 geopolitical zones, each of the emerging new country will already be bigger than the GDP of Kenya!

You can say that again.

And you think that is a match for Eko Atlantic that is already being constructed? Anyway, a city with no coherent plan and render cannot be taken seriously yet seeing that your last picture is actually of Dubai.

Mombasa rail station – Kenya is already an infrastructure powerhouse of East Africa -- leading the region for investment. But the next few years may see a quantum leap forward, with tens of billions of dollars to be spent on some of the world's most spectacular transport, energy and technology projects -- such as the new Mombasa rail station (above).

Through a program entitled Kenya Vision 2030, the government hopes to deliver a "newly industrialized, middle-income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2030."

The Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) has been described as the most ambitious project in Kenya has been invested in 600 kilometers of raised track connecting the hub cities of Nairobi and Mombasa, but it the line will be a net contributor to the economy for years to come. The SGR should be open for business in 2017.

Around $4 billion has been invested in 600 kilometers of raised track connecting the hub cities of Nairobi and Mombasa, but it is hoped the line will be a net contributor to the economy for years to come. The SGR should be open for business in 2017.

The SGR project also includes the construction of state-of-the-art new passenger stations at Nairobi, Voi, and Mombasa.

Jomo Kenyatta International airport is to receive multiple upgrades. A new greenfield terminal designed by architects will be the largest in Africa when it opens in 2017, serving 20 million passengers a year, at a cost of around $650 million. A second runway will be inaugurated the same year.

It will be transformed into a trade hub through the construction of a new 32-berth port, which will be used to supply locations along the line.

In what way did this long comment prove it is not your biggest project since independence?

Secondly, don't think you are talking to a fool here, 600km rail line for $50 billion? We also have railway project going on here in Nigeria. Over 1000km cost us just $13 billion.

Thirdly, Mombasa to Nairobi is only 400km+ by road how did you get your 600km.

You are really a criminal minded guy.

Guy stop wasting my time with useless post. We have several 8 storey buildings going up in Abuja and people still don't notice them.

I can show you a lot of that about Nigeria too but am only talking about work in progress already.

The biggest project in Kenya since independence is 400km railway project from Mombasa to Nairobi and they are comparing themselves with Nigeria.

Lagos state government is carrying out bigger project than that without making noise.

Am tired of this thread already because Kenyans have nothing to bring to the table.

Ghanaians would have done better.

It seem most Nigerians don't just feel like saying anything about Kenya vs Nigeria because they are not just comparable no matter how they try.

Most images posted are the once available to them on Internet. But believe me, we have far more than what Kenya can boast of.

My advice is that Kenyans should compare Kenya with Lagos Alone and you will see how people will rush the thread.

We are not in the same league with Kenya.

millions are actually following but those nigerians who have gone to kenya on vacations have their reservations about this debate.

I am saddened by the continuous act of some of my compatriots to always engage in social media fight with fellow Africans, most notably our brothers and sisters from Ghana and Kenya.

It is even unfortunate that these countries Nigeria youths love to abuse on social media are doing better than our potentially great country in virtually all sphere despite the fact that we(as a country) have more revenues, potentials, and opportunities. If Nigerians are not aware of the superiority(in terms of living) of other Africans over us, I will have to educate them using Kenya as a case study.

While Nigerians have always pride in the self titled "African Giant" rhetoric, facts on ground shows otherwise. Though we generate more revenue than Kenya, which is 70% due to the gift of nature under our soil(Petrodollars), Nigerians still lag behind greatly in basic things when compared to the East African giant.

According to 2015 data from World Health Organisation, Nigeria's male and female life expectancy are 52years and 56 years respectively, meaning an average Nigerian is expected to die before he/she turns 60. Meanwhile, the expectancy for Kenyan male and female are 61 and 66 years respectively. Similarly, while Nigeria has the 10th highest infant mortality rate worldwide with average 72 deaths per 1,000 birth, Kenya's infant mortality rate is rated 52nd in the world with average 32 deaths per 1,000 births. This means it is safer to give birth in Kenya than in Nigeria, and an average Kenyan living in Kenya is expected to live longer than an average Nigerian living in Nigeria.

Though Nigeria has more tourism potential than Kenya, but Kenya is one of the choice destination for vacation in East Africa. While Nigeria managed to rake in $601 million as Tourism receipt(Revenue) in 2014, Kenya raked in $1.833 billion in the same year. Nigeria can't even boast of a National carrier meanwhile Kenya Airways, the National Carrier of Kenya boasts of 45 Aircrafts in their fleet with 4,000 workforce strength. In addition, Kenya Airways is reputed to be one of the best in Africa.

In Africa, Kenya is the leader of Mobile money. Nigeria is still still battling to get it right in the ICT sector with poor infrastructure, lack of power, lack of political will, and fantastically corruption.

At present Nigeria is experiencing recession in her economy, one would expect Nigerians to shun frivolties and seek for ways to turn the recession to prosperity instead of wasting productive hours fighting our African brethren over irrelevances. Why would one who is rationing his/her phone battery life due to epileptic power supply still spend the little battery life s/he got through his/her generator to abuse someone in Nairobi who is neither rationing his/her phone battery life nor is depending on generating set for power? There is no trophy or reward for social media fight, Nigerians should stop sending the wrong image to the world that our greatness lies in social media wars.

Nigeria is a great country with potentials, filled with great prospects, but we can never be great if we don't channel our time and resources to fix our country.

A word should be enough for the wise... May God Bless Us All, and Bless Nigeria

Most Nigerians that have had the privilege of visiting Kenya can bare witness to the social economic aspect of the diversity that Kenya offers. Nigeria has a far bigger consumer power compared to Kenya but the diversity in the East African country is beyond reproach. The argument on the this thread was the fact that Kenya is making strides in very major infrastructural aspects that have far reaching economic impact on its economic growth.
For the past 15yrs Kenya has had a 5-6% growth rate in contrast to Nigeria. The Kenyan GDP despite being 30 times lower than Nigeria's oil driven economy it has managed to construct major infrastructure that directly impact the normal populace.
If the country will projectile beyond 5% growth then rest assured that it will surpass a few Asian tigers in the near future.

Let me educate you about Nigerians.

Even Nigerian that went to Benin republic and never came back from vacation have their reservations in this debate and that that doesn't automatically translate to Benin republic is better than Nigeria.

Not all Nigerians have been to Lagos and Abuja.

Millions of Nigerians have never left their home state to any major city before traveling out of the country and the impression of such a person will be different from someone who knows in and out of major cities in his country.

Even as we speak, we have Nigerians in Libya and Syria and they have no immediate plan of coming back.

Don't get confused. Am telling you fact. You don't become largest economy without anything. Something must have contributed to the economic growth.

Very true.... most Nigerians believe the bigger the structure or fancy aspects then it is efficient. As we all know Nigeria has one of the worst maintenance culture in Africa, let alone the inefficiency & ineptness of its authorities. Huge airport structures with corrupt immigration staff that manhandle travelers at airport launches doesn't make Nigeria look good in our eyes. Huge bridges but full of toll stations & traffic gridlock means nothing if it doesn't improve mobility within your cities.
The reason why the initial post was put up by an actual Nigerian is reason enough to prove to fellow Nigerians that their country is lagging in many aspects.

Calm down Bro.
Nigerians complian about infrastructure because they feel they deserve better not because they don't have what is in Kenya. Believe me, Kenya don't have the kind of infrastructure Nigeria boast of today.

Forget about the airport that is scaring you guys because you thought the airports were slums. FYI, not all airports are government owned. The MM2 airport in Lagos is not owned by Government and the third air will also be financed through public private partnership.
This is just to show you how strong our private sector have grown and how it affect the economy.

@the emboldened, you don't know what you're typing.

Toll gates are only present in highbrow areas, In Lagos, there only about 3-5 and only on the island.
For traffic gridlock, its majorly along the commercial areas and specific hours.

And your country doesn't have any corrupt official or imm. Staff..... I'll look for a way to debunk that.
