After this comment

“So if you reside in Nigeria and you are benefiting from being a Nigerian resident, it is only fair that you contribute to the system that makes you enjoy that standard of living.’’

made by The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on Monday Mr Tunde Fowler

http://www.herald.ng/nigerians-pay-vat-international-passports-firs/#lyH3XcWArJ8FFD8d.99

I HAVE BEEN THINKING OF THE BENEFIT AM GETTING AS A NIGERIAN CITIZEN/RESIDENT so far am yet to see any
cos I pay for everything, I am my own power supplier (generators) my own water supplier(bore hole, well and tankers) sometimes from God (Rain), I secure myself (private security) even things I don't see or use for example power supply

so am asking this question to my fellow Nigerians, WHAT ARE YOU BENEFITTING FOR AS A NIGERIAN CITIZEN OR RESIDENT?

Lalasticlala, mynd44 please I need answers to this question, do the needful (Frontpage)

Some comments.. you just begin to imagine if you are in same country with them...

Even those without jobs or earn less than 100k a mth...

Categorize and budget your expense then look beyond.. then ask partinent questions
How do you survive?
How to you cater for your unborn family
How to you set up that dream home or car
How do you cope in your pension days

to build a good home cost abt 25m to 30m naira..

If the inflation continues how do you expect to survive..

Dont sell your future being partisan, he that wears the shoe know where it pinches.

People have saved much more than you have or ever will... inflation and high cost of goods and services would zap all that..

Exchange your naira to a dollar today and see how low you saved compared to an average american who earns 10,000/annum..

Good, now... would you rather toil, day in day out, you earned e.g 200k a mth, saved 100k from it.. all to find out that your 100k savings/mth does not worth the stress you are put under to achieve it.. it cant even foot your bills anymore. Other countries govt see's these and subsidizes in different forms and paliatives.. but here we get virtually nothing and everything is supposed to come from that 100k.. then you think 5/6 yrs from now and you begin to think.. mind u when its difficult it difficult for all businesses also..

Everyone on this thread, every Nairalander, please join me to lay hands on this person!

Oga I doubt you have an International certificate, because you lack comprehension skills. In fact, how u tk pass jamb?

The question is:

What are you benefiting as a Nigerian citizen?

And you're talking SH*T (no offense).

@OP, there is NO benefit to being a Nigerian citizen.

Becoming a Nigerian citizen is an everlasting burden no one deserves but we have to carry because we were UNFORTUNATE to be born in this country.

Anyone with a contrary view can quote me, let me analyze your worthless life and that of this VERY STUP*D country.

Mr. Lecturer, the question was very simple: What benefit do you derive from being resident in Nigeria? One sentence. Please spare us the irrelevant chest beating. The OP did not tell you he is broke.

My brother, the country is a text book case study of a modern extractive and exclusive political and economic system. Nothing for the general masses - they are all there to be exploited by the system. Only few manage to break loose from the oppression and that's by there own sheer dogededness as opposed to any leverage from the system. I'm a first hand example. The Nigerian system is designed to oppress the weak.

There is nothing I benefit from being a Nigerian.
No housing
No light
Poor/No Education
Poor Healthcare
No security
Terrorism
No water supply.
This country is simply useless. It is unfortunate.
