A start up farm with base in south south and other open field location in Nigeria seeks Young and vibrant Nigerian for the position below:
POSITION: FARM COORDINATOR.
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
• Develop and manage the farms greenhouse, net house and hydroponics project
• Planning and setting up grain and vegetable production and other small animal
• collection of agronomical data for all trials;
• Assist in preparing field books and field plan for all trials;
• Assist in preparing randomization tables for field trials
• Initiate and follow up land acquisition land preparation for planting and management of resources;
• supervision of subordinates in the routine fields and screen houses operations;
• seed preparation, planting of trials and maintenance of trials in Ibadan and other out stations;
• supervising threshing, cleaning and safe storage of seed;
• Assist in setting up hybridization nursery in screen house;
• Record pedigree information of all newly developed lines;
• Support in thrips and aphids rearing;
• Assist in phenotyping of Bambara groundnut in addition to Cowpea
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
• OND, HND, or BSc in agriculture related field
• 2-5 years of work experience, with at least 2 years of experience developing and executing agricultural projects
• Ability and willingness to travel long distance to market with produce
• Ability and willingness to relocate
• Ability and willingness to live and work in a rural community
• Experience in commercial farming management will be preferable
• management including irrigation and management of simple farm machinery will be preferable
• Demonstrated aptitude for effective leadership of staff
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
In addition, Candidate should be IT savvy, have ability to work independently and possess good business development acumen.
