In a country governed by mediocres and charlatans, at a time when prices of everything keeps escalating, data was the only thing that remain cheap and affordable to Nigerians... I just pray this news is true because data hike will further compound the woes of the poor masses. |

This Telecommunication Companies are quiet dubious. I am sure that NCC didn't give them any directive to hike prices. They are a cartel that took the decision unilaterally and were just trying to rope NCC in after bribing one or two persons there. Awon Ole |

Martins301: The NCC actually gave the providers the new ground rules that would have resulted in big increases in data rates across board. For instance, whereas Glo and MTN currently have a floor of 21k and 84k per MB respectively, the NCC issued the directive that each of the big four at least, that is, MTN, Glo, Airtel, and Etisalat must from tomorrow charge a minimum of 90k per MB! Glo, for instance, would have been forced to increase its data charges nearly four-fold overnight!... At first, I didn't believe the NCC would actually ever decree foolish things such as price-fixing, until I read it's press release of today which contains the details of what it had mandated. Please read it if you haven't already. If the quality of the members of the board of the NCC is a direct measure of those of other boards in this country, then we are in serious trouble and under the yoke of pedestrian and bad leadership. Hmm. P34c3 ........ ..... ... 1 Like |
