Challenger, Abrams the best combat tested tanks have been penetrated/damaged by advanced RPGs.
my question would be were they monkey models and at what portions of the tank

The development of active protection systems is cause of the realisation that adding more isn't a really solution but nor active protection systems too.

They are there to negate the threat. Adding blocks adds weight.
right
because of weight limitations and technology retrains , technology is marching ahead every day grin

No tank is impenetrable. Armour is a concept.
again correct . but there r many faces/factors to it

Classified? grin grin
grin grin

exact technology is unknown what i said is based on my info info gleaned from...... grin , the Russians and Israelis r into it . but the Israelis r slowing it down inorder to protect and market their APS

@MikeCZA

heard of smart reactive armour ? pic 1

what i was talking above is a combination of ideas pic 2 and 3 into one reactive tile ( just to give a idea only)
What you were talking about is the inability of the Pktn tank to withstand RPGs on it's frontal arch.

Fancy expensive armour isn't found on the majority of tanks on active combat today and the near future. Meaning majority of tanks can be penetrated by advanced RPGs.

i was not being country specific i was browsing through ideas expo where i saw the tank and posted it here and then i remembered that it was tanked by an rpg especially due to hit on its frontal arc which is rare, since it is the best protected part of a mbt . also i mentioned they had most probably rectified the armour shortcomings after the court of inquiry . it is logical.

fact is even modern better protected tanks got tanked by rpgs grin
i am in no way judging anybodys tanks , also as i always say crashes , malfunctions , kills dont reflect on the capabilities a weapon it only highlights most of the time the short comings of the SOP of the operating crew which can be rectified easily.

as to to fancy expensive armour they may not be in fashion now but they will be in near future .
given the proliferation of advanced rpg and atgms .

in the end lets agree to disagree grin grin grin grin grin

Different versions.

Type of kill will be influenced by size. As smaller tanks can't be upgraded with heavy armour found in heavy MBTs eg Abrams, Leopard, Challenger, Arjun etc

Shock effect, fire power, mobility and protection.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will launch 83 satellites, 80 of them being foreign, in one go in January 2017. satellites weighing 500 kg belonged to five foreign countries — Israel, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Switzerland and the US.

this kind of info gives u an idea about the multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle (MIRV) capability of a nation. i said capability only which is different from productionizing the said technology as in a ballistic missile of ICBM category

Truvelo's new 20×42mm anti-material rifle.
could be used to stop VBIEDS depending on the rounds at medium ranges and even close,
damage the engine if the driver is not targetable

yes good old rpg 7 penetrated the frontal amour , when i saw the pic , i was surprised to see what was reveled if that is armour i will be damned, it is a shell

if even modern tandem warhead RPG penetrate frontal amour then i will say that the armour is not worthy of being called a amour .

in the pic below the frontal Armour failed and the base amour also took damage , u can see a hole in the base armour the kind made by shape charged RPGs .

guess the design was improved after this and included ERA tiles, not sure though

edit : it is modernized type 59 i made a typo earlier
This tank has been abandoned according to some report after being hit by many suicide taliban attacks the Tank turrets didn't fly. taliban did not have very advanced RPGs.like RPG-29

forget reports let us use our heads, here i am talking about the frontal armour only

look at the pic and show me one indication on the tank frontal armour which points to suicide attacks , unless the sucide bomber climbed on to the tank and sat on the front armoured portion grin and then blew himself up
also the tank hull below/ahead is free from any signs of explosive damage

chances are the same place got hit by atleast 2 rpg one took down the frontal armour another may or may not have penetrated the base armour.
u see there is a spall liner inside most tanks , it will have stopped the damage from the base armour penetration (if that ever took place at all)

and taliban dont attack them they r close friends grin ,
it is TTP i think who did this

it is m113 i posted to show the characteristic hole made by a shaped charged rpg on contact with armour (u can see a hole or which looks like a hole in the damaged base armour of the tank and i could be wrong here since the resolution of the picture is bad/limited )

another thing all the crew members escaped unharmed so it says a lot , again i posted it because it is rare to have frontal armour penetrated by rpgs since it is the best protected portion of a mbt.

good night/evening/morning grin grin grin grin
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by chinese8107:
latest modified Type 59. I don't think RPG-7 or some obsolete projectile can penetrate frontal armour.actually it's a Type-96 turrent on a Type 59 chassis.

that 1 pic you post the frontal armor just damaged I think .they abandon the tank for other reasons.
