The ulu or ulunne is predominantly used in imo state, it's just creeping into abia state, from the part of abia where I come from (isialangwa North). We majorly know Opara as first son,, Adanne as first daughter,, Osota-Ada or Oduta-Ada as second daughter.... I think imo state has a lot of original igbo culture too,, after all they are d Eastern heartland

Mkpatagiaka, we were already using the "ulu" expression precolonially in Ngwaland. It's not new.

In the Uratta area and neighbours there is equally important attachment to the 3rd daughter known as "Ibari" which we discussed earlier on this thread. Does it exist elsewhere outside Igboland?

Maybe I did not do my studies well but I guess Ihiala and Okija are in Anambra State and they happen to have the culture. It is probably more prevalent in the Imo/Abia axis.

Imo/ Abia axis u say. Did grow up there but worked there a long time and never heard of it. Did I also mention my dad is from Imo around Orlu district and I spent sometime in that region and never saw it practiced there too. I did hear mentioned that such was in effect in the past.

It's practiced more to the Imo River side, Imo - Abia border.

What part of Igboland is this custom prevalent in because we dont have this practice in Anambra,Enugu and Anioma areas or maybe its isnt prominent there. Though we have the "ada na eli ukwu anu" and "okpala nwe ana" customs. I will like to know where these custom is practiced.
Thanks for this question. I've never heard it too especially in Enugu

There's a lot of igbo culture being promoted in the Igbo-British community. Have a look at their channel, they are trying to keep the language alive.
