Just days ago, Tecno wowed us all with their recent partnership with City Football Group, owners of Manchester City football club where our own Kelechi Iheanacho plays.

Prior to the launch, there was #TheNextBigThing hashtag where we all thought it would be a new device but we all got it wrong. To say I am surprised with this big move is an understatement.

When the phantom 6 & 6plus was launched in Dubai, with the intention of going global, not a few of us took them seriously, but this move signals a big statement of intent and that they really mean business.

To me, this means more publicity for the brand, more revenue & that they shouldn't rest on their oars just yet. I hope they can seriously leverage on this. What's your take?

To me, it signals the dawn of a new beginning for the company. We have underrated them a lot. Either we like it or not, this means better days are ahead

Well, I simply think they just want to keep dominating, one can't achieve that without teaming up with global brands like Man City. It's a giant stride from Tecno.

This deal is a great boost for the Tecno brand. As it's going to give them the global recognition they deserve , I hope this is going to spur them on to become even better than they've been.

Here's why I think the deal is great.

Strategic cooperate partnerships can be a highly effective way to build businesses and this particular one between Tecno and Man city will enable both brands to compete(commercially) in new markets, offer unique competitive advantages in their own markets, gain new distribution, or benefit from a positive brand imagery.

All in all, I think it's a great deal for both parties. Most especially Tecno because Man city as a club is already known worldwide. Seeing them announce this major partnership will bring Tecno under the spotlight too. Which is what the brands needs.

Just like we witnessed last Saturday, we'll see the Tecno brand spread across the clubs Etihad stadium, media areas( including interviews). At the core of this deal is the desire to drive brand awareness. So yes, it's great deal for Tecno.

The link to the Arab world is really a strategic marketing acumen from Tecno. Never really saw this brilliant move coming so soon.

I am sure that's exactly the reason for this move. Imagine selling in UK and then Europe at large. It will mean a whole lot for the brand.

I quite agree with you. I think they are taking it one after the other. This is a target for UK & Europe at large. Other places will follow.

It's a great deal to leverage on. This should spur them to working on all the let downs in their flagships particularly OTA updates.
