Buying and Building a PC can be a complicated process,
especially if you’re inexperienced, considering
that there are an endless combination of
parts that you could use to put a system
together.
There’s the issue of picking a set of
components that are all compatible with one
another, along with other factors that you
need to weigh, including price, needs and
more.
When it comes to CPUs, you have one of two
firms to choose from: AMD and Intel. These
companies make virtually all of the world’s
desktop PC CPUs, but that’s where the
similarities between the two firms end, for
the most part. So, should you go for an AMD
or Intel CPU when building your PC?
Here, we’ll shed some light on the
differences between Intel’s and AMD’s CPU
offerings, which will help you make an
informed decision when it comes to picking
out a processor.

Intel any day any time...

AMD is a good CPU but it seems it's not build for our kind of country except if you drive a car with AC, and your office and house have AC...

AMD laptop tend to develop vga problem on the long run anyway this can also apply to Intel laptops too.

the likes of dell D620,hp 6930p ,HP 620 etc comes in two types, those with double vga and single.

those with double vga (Intel) will develop vga prob too.

With the introduction of AMD A series (A4, A6, A8 & A10), a lot of those things have changed. Infact AMD have improved greatly. We should stop judging them with their earlier CPUs. AMD used to have VGA issues cos of the amount of heat it generates and also runs battery quickly cos of same reason except you use cooling pad.

But all those are past tense. My HP 15 with AMD A4 is even cooler than Intel after playing heavy games. As a matter of fact Not even a single heat generated (thanks to HP cool sense technology).

No doubt they handle graphics demanding apps and produce better frame rates than Intel (excluding ones with dedicated graphics)

Also there's the introduction of turbo core by AMD which works like Intel's turbo boost and boost processor speed depending on task

If you check prices of the AMD A series, you'll see they're more or less same as the Intel counterparts unlike before when AMD is significantly cheaper. That shows they're already giving Intel a run for their money

Based on my personal experience, I'll always recommend an AMD A series CPU for someone who wants a purely gaming/graphics laptop. It's more affordable than buying Intel CPU with dedicated graphics.

yeah... lately AMD laptops are becoming expensive, when I saw the new price list of AMD laptops I was like :O

Anyway I still prefer Intel any time any day

Same here oh. I'm still surprised on how they pulled it off. Some A8 & A10 CPUs are even costlier than Intel core i7 depending on laptop models

The discrimination is still there, the awareness has not really gotten to this part of Africa, hopefully in the nearest future AMD users won't have anything to be scared of.
