TonyeBarcanista:I dont understand why you people tow this line of argument- it is downright sickening. Are you people saying Muslims are the omes promoting/sponsoring this bill? Or even if you say the sponsors are indeed Christians, the argument is is being used as a basis to bolster support for the Sharia bill is neither here nor there. Your argument suggests "Christians are devising means to promote Sharia bill"! Now mull that over for a second and tell me how that sounds. The reason why you people bring in this line of arguments is simply because you have this preconceived notion only Muslims have radicals. It might interest you that some Christians on this forum supported the idea- are we then to assume they are also trying to promote sharia through the back door? When you dissabuse yoir minds and rid it of all preconceptions When dealing with sensitive stuffs like this, it would go a long way to enrich the substance of your opinion. |

What I even want to know is the content of the law... who will be the judges ... will there be a course in our universities now called christianic law (very absurd) ... if a christian is convicted 'justly' in sharia court, will his/her case transfered to christian court for leniency (very laughable) ... if I meet a fellow christian on my wife (u know what I mean), how will this case be judged - please chemcrown, forgive and forget just as has Christ... or tit for tat or dead by hanging etc ... where will there contents of the law come from - the Bible (new testament - love your neighbour as yourselve and love your GOD with the whole of your heart or old testament - where laws could be given because of the hardness of people's heart) or are 'we' going to review sharia laws so that 'our' laws will stand CONTRARY to that of sharia? - if a man steal a goat and sharia law stipulates cutting of arms, will Christian law retrieve the man a set him free to counter the judgment, oh! the man will be put in jail... |

The overpaid peppersouping and big stouting urchins parading as lawmakers only ever sit down to pass irrelevant laws.... Nigeria is not a wholly Christian nor Muslim country ... Efforts should be made to clean up our judiciary system and not create more avenues for red tape bureaucracy and more ways to waste public funds. |

I think it was proposed to systematically check the passing of the Sharia Bill. If Sharia is passed that also must be passed. So it is only there to check the other bill being proposed. Every Christian knows we don't need it ![]() |

stinechykee:You are ignorant Tell me how many so called men of God abi na Dog have condemned islamists attacking and killing Christians, kidnapping young girls etc? That's how the court will work. Northern muslims can use money to corrupt your judges, I'm an atheist, what we should be calling is total ban of all religious activities from our government just as the Chinese or they divided the country like India & Pakistan, In future Muslims will start doing to non Muslims just as they do them in other Muslim country if time is not taken |

Something to ponder on Christians new law before National Assembly. Copied Now that the bill to establish CHRISTIAN COURTS has passed second reading at the House of Reps, I wonder what penal law the courts when it come into existence is going to rely upon as a source of its jurisdiction... Is it the Bible? If yes then Christians will be in trouble going by the following provisions in the bible : . 1. Kill People Who Don’t Listen to Priests "Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT) . 2. Kill Witches "You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB) . 3. Kill Homosexuals “If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” (Leviticus 20:13 NAB) . 4. Kill Fortunetellers "A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB) . 5.Death for Hitting Dad Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB) . 6.Death for Cursing Parents 1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB) 2) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT) . 7.Death for Adultery If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT) . 8. Death for Fornication "A priest’s daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9 NAB) . 9. Death to Followers of Other Religions Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB) "Nonbelievers They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB) . 10.Kill False Prophets If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, “You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord.” When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through. (Zechariah 13:3 NAB) . 11. Kill the Entire Town if One Person Worships Another God Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. “The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him.” (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT) . |

Johnnyessence:NO, NO, NO, don't tell me that. Why do I have to know after its establishment. Too wrong to know my fate after the deed is done. Please, another question - I believe traditional religion is still recognized in the country, will you support it if it calls for it own court? I repeat: Christianity is NOT contending for supremacy. Hallelujah. |

drnoel:Chai! Chai! Oboy, so the sponsor of the proposed bill Rep Gyang Dung of the PDP from Plateau State is also Muslim? Abeg muke una give us (Muslims) a rest - see how you are twisting this to make it as if Muslims caused it - as usual blaming others for your own follies. It should be obvious to anyone that this bill was sponsored by Christians out hate and rivalry and also to spite Muslims for having Sharia, in continuum of their general agenda to checkmate Islam and Muslims at any and every opportunity; unfortunately, this time the proponents failed to think through and look beyond their hatred by properly taking time to consider the implications of what they are asking for before rushing to submit their proposal. It serves them right, Muslims will not oppose them but support them; let them reap what they are sowing - they deserve it. |

TonyeBarcanista:IN AS MUCH AS I MAY AGREE WITH YOUR POSITION WHERE WERE YOU WHEN SHARIA LAW WAS DEBATED AND PUT IN OUR CONSTITUTION? NOW THAT IT IS IN OUR CONSTITUTION HAVE YOU EVER SPOKEN FOR OR AGAINST IT? BE JUST IN YOUR SUBMISSION. NIGERIA IS HIGHLY DIVIDED ALONG RELIGIOUS LINES AND THIS CAN BE SEEN BYTHE WAY WE MAKE OUR LAWS. |

No need for religious court. Family and moral matters shd be settled by elders and leaders in the family, church or mosques the people belong. Civil and criminal matters shd be taking to conventional courts. If we say one Nigeria, we shd submit to one judicial system. A thief is a thief whether Christian or Islam. |

drnoel:Speaking of insults:"No am a dunce just like u"; your words, not mine - is apparently to you not an insult. I am sorry, I truly do not have time to cure you of your stupidity, in believing that anyone bearing a Muslim name must automatically be a Muslim - besides, since when does a name like Gyang Dung sound Muslim? Pls go and bury your head somewhere. |
