He is not betraying anybody yet.
there are some times you don't have control over the inevitable...
dupe just happen to be able to break the wall around him, while meeting funmi make him fall in love again, you can't always marry the first person to stir your heart. and because of the history of your loved ones you need to deprive your heart of what it yarns for. ( the heart wants what it wants).... when sly is beginning to take sides and abhor funmi's deeds that's when betrayal is defined
