No nid to b afraid yet, my frnd is also serving on borno we speak almost one time in months, he used to tell us not to bother if he's line is not going tru , dat dey hardly make FONE calls over dia.... He only comes home one time after six months or a year

Thank God for siriusblack for creating that thread on th fight agaisnt boko haram in the northeast. I was almost making the mistake of joining the army cos I was tired of reading how boko haram was slaughtering nnocent nigerians. I was tired of ventng online,and wanted to contribute my own quota by taking up the risk to join the army just to fght boko haram. But after reading through the thread and hearng of stories of sabotage by certain elements in the military,I decded it wasn't worth it. The story of the troops ambuushed and killed at night when they had to obey their commander even when they had told him it was rissky to embark on that journey,and that the had run out of armour,broke me. That was when their colleagues had to commit a mutiny and fired at the GOC. To make matters worse,those guys were court martialled and sentenced to death... I advised myself that it wasn't worth it,going to die like that. Not because the enemy is actuall stronger,but because insiders were selling them out. Like me,most of these young men had dreams of going to fght and coming back to a heroes welcome but that wasn't the case for most of them. I salute those who have paid,and are currently paying the supreme sacrfice to keep us safe. No matter what the situation is,I can never entertain the thought of joining the military again... It's not worth it.

my brother don't always take everything you see on social media hook line and sinker. the puzzle here is that, since Nov. 2015 the family didn't hear from him and nobody deem it fit to go to his formation where he was deployed to bornu. I lost an army cousin in similar circumstance same year 2015. it was a colleagues of his that first hinted the family about their troops been ambushed and that their were calsuaties. immediately the family sent somebody from Lagos to ilorin his last formation. the army authority then corfimed the incident but that they are still gathering information because they yet to know the number of casualties and their identities. after three they send signal to family that it was unfortunate that our brother was one of the unlucky ones. and the army did the needful.

Amaka I will strongly advice that you go to his last unit and confirm the whereabout of your husband who happens to be my uncle, I'm saying this because you are his wife and you will be given more attention than any of his family members. Its over a year now and we are not comfortable with the whereabout of our brother chidi.

It is so shameful that the "almighty Nigerian Army" cannot account for its soldiers... Shame unto this country that it can't account for the well being of its citizens that are willing to give up their lives for her... shame unto the leaders of this mistake of a country (both paste and present) that there hasn't being any atom of change years after independence... my advice to Nigerians is to be mindful while sticking out their heads for this country for patriotic acts are not valued in this here... i'm neither a biafra agitator nor an IPOB member.. #ACorncernedNigerian...

Could u imagine on my way to ph along d border between Owerri & Ph @ Army check point we wia stopped by d Nigerian Army & where ordered to come down reason best known to them we stayed about 20mins with the soldiers not attending to us & our driver is afraid maybe coz of past experience with them.
The annoying path was when one of d soldiers an hausa/faluni called us iyamili i felt so sad inside me but what can i do? nothing

I was busy @ d check point checking d igbo solider inorder to plead with him in my dialet as a broda to allow us to continue our journey

To my greatest surprise d so called my solider broda didnt even gave me d chance to come close to him i carried bitterly inside me

Luckily for us one of our passenger speaks & understand Hausa language as he speak it to d soldiers smile from nowhere full over dia face immediately they told us to enter our motor & continue d our journey

And dat so called my solider brodas wia dia claiming Ameriacans & u want me to pity them ur joking.
