Ur answer is YES AND NO. If the sim is any of the popular ones like mtn, etisalat and glo then it would work, u will only get 3g and 2g though. But if the sim is ntel then rje answer is NO. Ntel sims only work on 4g phones and not all 4g phones, the phones must have band 3 and I think band 7

P5 can never support 4G...

Tecno P5 =! Tecno Phantom 5.
The former is a ~2014 device that runs Android 4.2.2 Jellybean, while the latter is the recent flagship.

When they started with T1...see condemnation..but when I talk people will say chinco this, chinco that....then N3..later N7.. M3 and so on...

But now people are praising them for Phantom 6 and 6 plus..

No, sir.
Not on a P5.
Some Android phones (ie Samsung) show 4G instead of H+ (3.5G), especially carrier branded ones.
But to my knowledge, Tecno phones do not do this.
So, no, it won't show 4G.

Put it in an Android phone you haven't put an MTN sim in before and subscribe, after you subscribe you can change the sim to your regular phone and the device bonus will still be intact.

Yes it's possible especially with the recent Glo 4g sim I bought. I was able to browse with sim on my phone bit the speed wasn't encouraging perhaps because it was on a 3g phone

I don't think there's anything like 4G/3G/2G SIM. all sim cards(at least the regular and not cdma ones) are the same, the difference is what network and/or technology your your mobile network supports in your area, if you have MTN's supposed 4G SIM an area of 3G reception you'll only get 3G, if you also used that same SIM in a phone that has only 3G in an area with 4G reception your phone would only get 3G service because it doesn't support the 4G network thing, and guess what?

you'll get only 3G on your phone with maximum of 3G while using a supposed 4G sim card.

The bolded is wrong.
There is a difference between USim and 'normal' sim.
You need a Usim to access UMTS (3G) video call and LTE services.
Also there's also ISIM that you can use to access IMS VoLTE.
