Maychang:I seriously don't get some people's level of comprehension, something as basic and simple as the OP explained, a lot still can't grab someone still even stated that 'better work dey island na' something the OP already stated, nairaland makes me laugh everyday as it shows how shallow minded and unintelligent most Nigerian youths are...., no offence, if it's a Lil kesh wizkid argument, thread becomes full, something basic that requires just an opinion, a lot are lost.. |

martineverest:Trust me, with our executive bus, nothing like stress. We will be at your bus stop(closest to your house) to pick you and drop you at your office and vice versa. Just relax, enjoy the a/c, comfort and maybe converse with ur fellow workers in the bus. It's a wonderful experience. |

RentALodge:You made some valid points but you lost me when you made 90% of all your analysis based on Lekki, as to you lekki represents the entire island, you do realize that they are over half a million people residing from the CMS point down to Obalende, to Adeniji, to dolphin estate, to alagbon, glover, Cameroon and falomo who usually have no business with the toll gates, even tho I agree you made some points that are very true, you also made too much erros assuming all if not 90% of islanders leave and work in lekki, your 1st point of spending 3 times of fuel for generator and fixing, bro I don't understand; are you saying fuel cost 3 times on the island, that was way too outrageous, your points are relative, I live and work on the island, even tho yes standard of living with rent fees are slightly higher, bro the comfort, the ease of getting to anywhere in lagos through a BRT at TBS, CMS is bliss, the easiness of getting to and from work is just a blessing, OP I feel anyone having this dilemma should seriously just pick a job close to his place of residence. |

bammy00:Bless you for this points, even tho I am the opposite as I live and work on th island but I like the honesty and the way you laid it out, stress isn't needed, the country provides daily stress already. |

MY DEAR, YOU JUST CAME UP WITH A DECISION AM ABOUT TO REVIEW NOW IN MY PLACE OF WORK.. i think mainland is the best, irrespective of the amount offer, u look at your rent fee if your 2 months salary can pay it at a go, unlike staying on the island. PetiteB: |

As humans we are all different and as such have our prorities and all. For me, I'm all about comfort. Even if I'm not wealthy I believe in living a comfortable life. When I was a student in UK I spent 45% of my monthly allowance on paying my rent (450quid) and another 50 to 80 quid monthly on bills. Fast forward i finished and worked a bit before coming to partake in the almighty nysc. Was posted to lagos and rented a house in lekki for 1.3M. People said all sorts of things but i didnt care. All I wanted was comfort. Why should I work morning to evening and spend 2 to even 6 hours in traffic if I can make things better. What kinda life is that Left the house at 7:45am most days and returned before 5:30pm most days. While strolling to ebeano store one day I met an UBA ED also taking a walk and we chatted and exchanged numbers. Today he is like a friend. Again I met also met the CFO of one of the old generation banks whiloe jogging at night on the3 lekki-ikoyi link bridge and we pretty much had something to talk about and we exchange emails from time to time. I also met someone who was doing some church envagelism work one saturday. He pretty much stopped me to preach to me. I listened and he invited me to his church. I later found out that he is the CIO of a major company in Nigeria and we pretty much chat from time to time. Two weeks after nysc I got retained where I served in VI. 8 months later I got higher paying job in another much bigger corporation in VI (both jobs were in my field). If i was in ikorodu or some sort these opportunities may not have come. Someone once told me jokingly that your location may play a role in where you'll be placed. |

A wise man would go for mainland considering children fees and accomodation and stressfree traffic...simple life style...why die before your time..he would likely have savings for the rainy day. |
