The existence of all these different rates allows the well connected to make a shed load of money by buying forex at the cheap rate to sell at the higher rate. This is another way in which poor policies create an enabling environment for corruption to thrive.

Hmm... If I tell you, you for get heart attack. The True value is about N520/$1

Buhari family travel subsidy is about N11
Dangote subsidy is about N5
Northern pilgrimage subsidy is about N5
Northern elite (Emir Sanusi, Sultan, I see you) subsidy is about N10
Then Tinubu, Chagoury, and other investors subsidy cut is about N10.

When you add it up, it is about 40naira. 520-40=480. But the government has been bullying the BDC (money changers) to keep it low, thus the 480 black market price.

Then again, I received brain this morning and I've been misbehaving ever since. tongue cheesy

This is a clear indication of the high level of corruption, incompetence and insincerity of this present administration!

The truth is the Naira is practically USELESS now and no help to the inflation foresight. The other day my sis wanted to purchase an electronic online, loaded her account only to be charged ridiculous as the Naira is now pitched at #600/£1. Let's be sincere to ourselves regardless of tribe, religion or sentiments, Buhari is not worthy to rule a complex country like Nigeria. He has got no qualifications that can effect change in this modern era and he is alien to effective economic policies. His minsters are selected based of nepotism as you don't give an accounting portfolio to a woman whose highest education is BSc and from a uni below par, and the wrong professions in wrong ministry. Nigeria is in for a tougher time and unfortunately we have to smile as it's our motto; "Suffering and Smiling". Even after 2019, we will still be suffering because we will vote in another ineffectual candidate based on our hate for the present one. In all said, and to the topic, "The Naira is Dead For Now and Won't be Alive For a Longer, Longest Time".

Zilch.

I never knew the naira has depreciated so bad till I was told yesterday that one MAC lipstick now sells for 10,500 naira. shocked

Something my friend said used to be around 3,500 naira.

No wonder so many people are angry, pained, upset, frustrated, etc and seeking just anybody to vent their anger and frustrations on. cool
