Kenya was a settler state during colonial times hence the whole white people and Indians thing. Which is not necessary as until their collective GDP exceeds the kikuyu industrial complex's GDP.

I don't blame the Nigerians that think Kenya is backward anymore I blame the Kenyans who think the whole of Nigeria can be summed up in Nollywood story lines.

.....as somebody who has lived in Kenya why would you support your country folk who've never been to Kenya when they claim Kenya is owned by Indians and Whites when you know it's not true? Some girl here who says she's been to Lagos only once (I even doubt if she's ever been to Lagos) and sounds completely uninformed and untravelled has been spewing so much ignorance here about Kenya while you watch yet you get mad when a Kenyan mentions that Kenya has better HDI than Nigeria.

I am a free man. I go where am needed, Kenya is not the only country I've been to. My opinions are not radical enough to warrant insult. I think Kenyans suck doesn't mean I won't help them, if you met me, you would not think for a second I hold a grudge which I don't , opinion is just opinion, I think Naija is pretty f#cked up too. Now you get the f#ck over yourself.

MtuMsuper:

Seriously, why don't you just GTFO of kenya. Your attitudes are insufferable. Believe me, never underestimate the social sensibilities of even the poorest kenyan. Kenya is not the sort of place you can get away with in your face disrespect to an individual on account of his/her socio economic or other objective. Which is where you lack terribly. So you mean you walk around with this sub attitude that all these fools occupying this country are useless, for how many donkey years.

Just GTFO.

We live in a multi ethnic country you bozo called @naijalander. And we also have plenty of africans from other countries. As a matter of fact, i "took my cows" to another African country when i became of age. In fact in my wife's birth country, i have seen and observed the same attitudes and behavior of nigerians towards their hosts, and it mirrors yours exactly. And the indigenes there don't like 9ja people much for said reasons. Why do you think that is? Don't give us some exceptionalism bs. Very sad you should steal Americanisms like exceptionalism , and shamelessly wear it over your filthy agbada, claiming it as your own.
I would prefer a Namibian, zimbo, Tanzanian, Ghanaian any day.

Ps: To all contributors, its no secret this thread was begun by a Nigerian. Soon SAn people entered the fray. Then an Ethiopian!! I want to hear a Ghanaian or Cameroonian (the English speaking ones) enter.

Kenya is ranked 145, Nigeria 152 which is quite disgraceful but it has no baring on whether Kenya is more advanced than Nigeria.

Look at the difference

Nigerians are exceptional people. It is not your place to decide. You don't roll around nearly enough Nigerians to assume all nigerians are a certain way.

I don't think you realize that Nigeria has exported more culture to the world than Kenya has. It takes economic, political and religious influence to export culture. Kenya is beautiful, Naija is just exceptional.

Lol.....are you talking of Nollywood and your music? See, the whole of Jamaica has a GDP less than a half that of Nairobi's with a shitty economy but Nigeria will have to work extra time for decades to take its music where Jamaicans have taken theirs. This culture thing is really taking a toll on you - Kenyans are all over China, Europe, USA etc teaching Swahili and you don't see us viewing ourselves as better individuals for exporting our culture. lol.

What business is it to you exactly? My clients use me to solve problems, I do good work and I get paid fairly. That is the way of a true professional.

Whether or not my work is essential is up to the demand for my services.

But if you insist, financial institutions don't play with their clients money so I wanna believe my work is essential.

And what has your country, which is the successor state to all those slave selling kingdoms, done to correct or at least ameliorate that historic stain.
President Mathieu Kerekou of rep of Benin, in 1986 went to a church in the Bronx, NY to publicly apologise amid his own tears to the afro descendants of the US about his country's role in that infernal trade.
Ghana and Senegal have thriving tourist industries centred on attracting afro Americans.

In 2014 Ogun state government passed a law to give 10 acres free agric land in the state to any descendant of a slave who was sold from there. Some even returned in recent times.

A lot of African Americans are coming back to their Naija roots and we welcome them. The Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of Oyo have repeatedly apologized over the years. The current Ooni did so a few months ago on his tour of the US.

Are you on fuckin crack or what

So 170m of Nigerias population have electricity, or what the hell did i read? Naigerians are jokers!!!

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/75-nigerians-lack-access-to-regular-power/

75% Nigerians lack access to regular power On November 10, 20152:06
By Sebastine Obasi
Despite the huge investments made in the energy sector since the privatisation of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, about 75 percent of the Nigerian population still live without access to regular electricity supply. Power Power According to The Nigerian Association of Energy Economists, NAEE, despite statistics indicating that 45 percent of the country’s population is currently connected to the national grid, regular supply is still restricted to just about 25 percent of the population. This is coming as the International Finance Corporation, IFC, said that constant regular power supply will ensure overall prosperity and development for Nigeria. Most of the people with access to electricity are found within the urban areas of the country, thus leaving citizens in the rural areas with less access to electricity supply. NAEE therefore raised concern on economic redundancy in these parts of the country, adding that despite the importance of energy to economic development, large proportions of Nigerians still lack access to electricity. The National President, NAEE, Mr. Wumi Iledare, who stated this at the 2015 World Energy Day, said energy contributed greatly to the transformation of the world and provided comfort to the human race. He, however, noted that the association was concerned that majority of Nigerians do not have access to energy, stressing that for those with some form of access, availability and quality still remain major issues to contend with. “Nigeria has vast and varied energy resources, both renewable and non-renewable resources. The nation is also the largest economy in Africa with a GDP (gross domestic product) of about $531.8 billion, according to the World Bank, yet the nation still faces serious energy poverty issues, with energy supply falling short of energy demand. “It is estimated that the nation has as much as 90 percent deficiency in electricity supply while in off-grid areas where some 50 percent of Nigerians live, access to electricity is practically zero. Even in on-grid areas, power outages are still a recurrent theme and this has continued to pose serious constraints to economic development. “There is obvious inequity in energy access based on levels of income, and location. Access is nearly 100 percent in developed countries, compared to 60 percent in the developing countries.

Yes, power supply may not be regular, but the most rural and interior areas of Nigeria are connected to electricity and that is the main point am trying to make.

90m Nigerians have no access to power http://qz.com/573325/nigeria-is-betting-on-solar-power-to-reach-a-million-homes-without-access-to-the-grid/

90m people is double the population of Kenya.

ICT and Technology Kenya Is Way ahead of you... Lol

We have Mpesa which is the largest African innovation to date. We also have mkopa solar and ushahidi the later of which has been used to monitor even the US elections, used in Haiti during the earthquake and Japan for disaster evasion.

Most houses that don't have electricity are powered by mkopa solar but are still not recognized as being on the local power grid

In fact, Nairobi's iHub is the largest and most popular technology hub in Africa. Cc hub in Lagos is a small hub with no windows and no parking.. Lol. I have been there a number of times.

We have extremely cheap fiber Internet connections. With as little as 5Usd you can get unlimited 5mbps of Internet per month from Able wireless.

In fact, there is NO creativity in Nigeria only copy and paste ideas. The only technology that Nigeria is known for is a million online stores(Jumia, Konga and the likes) and dozens of blogs. Andela is one of the extremely few companies to become successful on another field but even then they had to incorporate the company in the USA to have any success.. Lol. All the top leaders are not even in Nigeria.

Our stock exchange market is smaller than the Nigerian securities exchange but more automated. We also have more comprehensive companies like Abacus, valuraha, wazua, mystocks etc for analyzing exchange data at a subscription fee affordable to the common citizen compared to Nigeria. It is in fact nowadays easier to invest in our exchange for a beginner compared to the Nigerian one.

We also lead in technology in Agriculture with things like twiga foods, mfarm etc

TAX returns are ONLY filled online. All exam records for students in primary, secondary/high school and university are ONLY obtained online even public schools including admission letters nowadays.

We are recently even introducing laptops to all public primary schools to kids aged 4-13 totally free of charge since primary school education is totally free here. All secondary schools have computer labs.

One of our universities, Jkuat assembles their own laptops, Taifa laptops that are used by over 50,000 students

Our government is currently experimenting with blockchain technology which powers bitcoin for the education system to curb falsified certificates and for the lands ministry to curb falsified title deeds. This is next level shit not done by any regime in the world. Our largest bank by customer base, Equity, is also experimenting with bit coin. We also have successful startups, like Bitpesa that deal in bit coin.

Even in fields like advertisements we lead with the largest indigenous African digital marketing company that IPOed ages ago, Scangroup.

When it comes to hosting, we have the largest and most comprehensive local hosting services e.g. Node Africa. The recently collapsed Angani due to board room wrangles

Check out something like the Nairobi Dev school led by a 19yr old Martha Chelimo that sought to teach young people about tech and get work for them long before Andela came to existence. This was featured in so many publications and even got her to meet a lot of visionaries including Bill Gates.

We have way more successful women in technology and larger women outreach programs in this space with some of the largest startups e.g. Moringa school, Nds, WezaTele and many others being led by women.

Almost all tech companies in Uganda and the largest tech companies in Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda upto Mozambique are owned by Kenyans.

There is a reason why Kenya is known as the Silicon Savannah.

Hahahahaha.. This is my field and I come to consult for some of your largest tech companies in Lagos so I know what the Bleep I am saying.

Even our mobile banking is more advanced than in Nigerian despite Nigeria having larger banks. I can apply for a loan of as much as 30000USD on my banking app and have it today. Loans of small sums like 500Usd I get automatically within 10secs of applying

Just stick to uploading pictures of bleached women with excess makeup in ridiculous gowns

Bio: Aloysius holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Boston Massachusetts. He is the Founder & Chief Scientist of BREEJ Technologies, Inc., a developer and marketer of advanced treatment cosmetics products for problem skin.

13.Mohammed Bah Abbah

Although he holds no patent on this invention, he is credited with taking on the challenge of making accessible the “pot-in-pot refrigerator” or “zeer”, a refrigerating device that does not use electricity, to people in rural areas. He is a recipient of the Rolex Award for Enterprise, an award that provided $75,000 which Mohammed used to produce and distribute his invention in 11 northern states in Nigeria.

Bio: Mohammed developed his pot-in-pot refrigerator by combining the knowledge he had gained from his grandmother’s craft of traditional pottery with simple laws of physics. He followed up on the idea by placing food in a small pot, which is then placed in a larger pot. The space between the two is filled with moist sand and a wet cloth cover is used to cover the whole set up. As the water in the moist sand evaporates through the larger pot, it carries heat away from the inner core of the whole set up.
Mohammed holds no patent on this invention because the pot making business is not new. What is novel is the fact that he set up a local production facilities to provide the pot-in-pot for the cost of $2 (N320) for the smaller pot-in-pot refrigerator and $4 (N640) for the bigger versions. The invention allows perishable food to extend their spoilage rate. For example, meat can be stored in it for up to two weeks instead of a few hours.

14. Olu Atanda

He is credited with the co-invention of a self-lubricating layer for a data-storage device and disk and holds the following patents at the USPTO.

*. Self-lubricating layer for a data storage disk, United States Patent No. 6,430,114, August 6, 2002.

15. Brino Gilbert

He is credited with the invention of the Counter Collision Gadget (CCG), a device that has the capacity to prevent accidents on the road, air, sea and rail. The invention earned him many awards including a bronze medal in the Aerospace/Aeronautics category at the May 2003 edition of the Invention and New Product Exposition (INPEX) in the United States. He also received a silver medal in the manufacturing category and a trophy for being the best invention from Africa in the continental category

Bio: Gilbert is a Nigerian physicist from Edo State. He spent 10 years seeking government attention for his research and approached several groups and individuals for sponsorship. His vision is to make CCG exportable to many countries of the world.

Lol.....are you talking of Nollywood and your music? See, the whole of Jamaica has a GDP less than a half that of Nairobi's with a shitty economy but Nigeria will have to work extra time for decades to take its music where Jamaicans have taken theirs. This culture thing is really taking a toll on you - Kenyans are all over China, Europe, USA etc teaching Swahili and you don't see us viewing ourselves as better individuals for exporting our culture. lol.

will you shut up there already!

Nigeria's music, movies, cuisine and fashion is all over Africa and the caribean, the black world as a whole and there is no denying it!

With Nollywood, Africans have been able to tell their own stories by themselves, a thing we've never done before then. We have exported more literature than Kenya has too. Our writers ate better known than Kenya's, fact!

Before Chinua Achebe came up with his "Things Fall Apart", the story of Africa was told by Europeans who held the opinion that before coming in contact with the white man, Africans had no history, culture and civilization. But Chinua Achebe was able to change all of that by his famous book.

As for the Nollywood you claim to look down upon even though you are watching one right now; with Nollywood, Africans can finally see a thing they can relate to. Several links i gave here confirms it that Kenyans now want to speak like Nigerians, dress like Nigerians etc.

Today, Nigerian music is doing far better than the Jamaican regea, fact! How many people still listen regea today? If Psquare were to come to your country, i am sure you wont get a place at the front because better people would push you back so as to catch a glimpse of the Nigerian sensation.

Nigerian Entertainment Industry is worth more than the GDP of several African countries and i won't be too surprised of it can finance Jamaica's annual budget.

I think you are just so dumb to underrate the Nigerian e-commerce markets and our social network websites.

The social network you and i are on now is the largest of it's kind in Africa. The largest indigenous African social network With over 1.5 million members. It's Nigerian. It is connected to the best world search engines. Many Nigerians spend their time here and can even interract with foreigners through this medium unlike you guys who spend all your data on American owned facebook e.t.c.

I just wonder how any sane human beign can debase the usefulness of e-markets. In the most advanced countries of the world, people shop online and get their products delivered to their doorsteps almost as much as they frequent the malls. The owners of American Amazon, E-bay and other famous American e-markets are stinking filthy rich and they have created hundreds of thousands of Jobs for their country.

We have Africa's largest online malls in Nigeria while most Kenyans spend their quality time frequenting malls (many just for sight seeing) everyday as their greatest achievements. Terrible!

Indeed. Am acutely aware of a trade in centuries gone past involving the export of live human beings from the shores of Nigeria. Culture got exported too.

Nigerian culture is not being transported to other culture via anykind of criminal activity. It is been taken to other parts of the world via satellite technology, five of which are owned by the Fed Rep of Nigeria and zero of which is owned by Kenya and every other subsaharan African country except SA which has fewer numbers.

Ghana and Senegal have thriving tourist industries centred on attracting afro Americans.

this is the reason why the Fed govt has spent over 10bn dollars since independence in 1960 to ensure political stability, institutional functionality and economic prosperity of the entire African continent.

It is also the reason why Nigerians decided to write books, make movies and films in order to correct the loss of self esteem black people both home and in diaspora felt as a reesult of the tragic history of slavery.

Sure....... no wonder most Nigerian guys here claim we've "given our women too much power". They can't believe a woman can have other interests other than kitchen, fashion and children.

If not that yourself an Muafrika2 are just so ignorant cos i can't believe the imbecilic nature of the people am here with.
Okay, yes, Nigerian women belong to the kitchen but i can bet u guys that it will take Kenyan women another 100 years to attain the positions that Nigerian women have attained.
Show me any Kenyan woman that has been a Key player in world politics like these 2 Nigerian women.

Nigeria's Amina Mohammed is now the Deputy secretary general of the United nations.

Ngozi Okonja Iweala is the first and only black person to ever contest for Presidency of the world bank, she served as the managing director of the world bank for 6 consecutive years and for 5 consecutive times she has been ranked by forbes among the 100 most influential people in the world.

Nigerian women are beauty and brains combined.

Yes, power supply may not be regular, but the most rural and interior areas of Nigeria are connected to electricity and that is the main point am trying to make.

don't mind these jealous people!

They keep boasting to us that they have more power supply than we do have not knowing that their little 2000mw goes round the few people connected to the grid more because there aren't many industries.

We talk about our issues, while they don't talk about theirs. That's why they are ok with their govt giving them just 2000mw and distributing that little amount to just a few people in Nairobi and leaving the vast majority out in the dark.

Exactly my brother. All of Nigeria is connected to power supply, our most interior villages are and this is one reason why we really have to produce more power to meet the demands of stable power supply for180million people.
U see the difference between we and these savage Kenyans is that in Nigeria we try to take our 180 million citizens along in everything we do. But for Kenyans they only care about Nairobi and a few other smaller towns, they dont care about their people living in the interior villages, bushes and serengettis, that's why they have the largest and worst slums in Africa.

Do u know that only less than 25% of Kenyans live in cities and towns with access to the basic amenities of modern life? Almost half of their citizens are still living in the stone age in forests with wildlife like the millions of masai people who still drink animal blood as their main meal.
Kenyans are the worst and most heartless Africans i know believe me, the few ones who manage to live in Nairobi do not give a Bleep about the other half of their country that live in isolation in forests, mountains and interior villages.

Just imagine, millions of Kenyans are still living like this savages below and these fools are here comparing themselves with a mighty country like Nigeria taking all it's 180- 200 million citizens along.

Kenyans are known all over Africa for their stupidity. Even their neighbors can testify.

My advice for you Nigerians is to forget these people. They are no where close to Nigeria in any sector. Please spend you time making money and spend your extra time educating these dummies if you feel the worth it. For me they are not worth my time. I purposely waited this long to see if they truly have something we can credit them for but all they have to show us is supermarket, mobile money, HDI, milk and 8 lane roads.

Ghanaian are in fact better than Kenyans in every sector. Kenya is more like a one eyed man in the midst of blind men.
