It is no longer news that the duo of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Ghana's President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo were in Imo State earlier today to join Imo's governor and the generality of Imo citizenry to celebrate Imo's Day of Thanksgiving, what may be important news is the reason behind their coming. Hate him as much as you would love to, but you cannot deny the fact that former President Olusegun Obasanjo remains one of Nigeria's most favored political leaders and the Number One political godfather as long as Nigeria is concerned, so his coming couldn't have been for any other reason but for the fact that he wants to identify with one of the most performing governors in today's Nigeria. Obasanjo has grown beyond sycophancy and if he wasn't impressed with the landmark achievements of the Okorocha led administration in Imo State, he would have distanced himself from an event of that nature. Obasanjo, like most lovers of Nigeria are proud of Governor Okorocha and will seize any opportunity to identify with him. Nana Akufo Addo, apart from being Ghana's President-elect is a longstanding and well respected political player not just in Ghana, but across Africa. He is arguably Africa's most popular politician at the moment, having recorded the rare feat of defeating an incumbent in the presidential election. He is also the son of a former President of Ghana, Edward Akufo Addo. The President-elect has a long history of friendship with the Imo governor and is aligned to Governor Okorocha's humanitarian political philosophies. He is in Imo to celebrate with the governor and the entire Imo people for the good things God has done for the people of Imo State in the last one year and also learn one or two lessons on leadership from his friend, governor Okorocha, especially in the area of the free education program. Any responsible leader would also not have failed to be part of this landmark event organized specifically to give thanks to the Almighty God to whose glory all of us are alive to see the end of this 2016, especially as the event also provided a grand opportunity to extend help to the less privileged among us, as whatever thing realized during the event will be shared to the less privileged across the 305 wards in the State through their SDC Coordinators. GOD HAS BLESSED IMO STATE! Written by; Comr. Onwuasoanya Fcc Jones.
