U pay for the protection of your life with your useless chicken change u call tax. You should be grateful parasites are making u wake and sleep in peace. Hahahahahahaha. How does discos rejecting power means letting down by the government. The useless discos wanted increment and they got it. What is all these excuses for their crass incompetence. They were brought in to make power better not to act as saboteurs. Be wise my friend. |

progress69:You know nothing boy so kindly shut up. You are just a lousy noise maker whose only tendency is to harass docile civilians . The discos are owed huge amounts, thanks to parasites like you gaining from such sabotage. The discos are also running at a huge loss from entitled folks like you who feel they shouldn't be paying for their energy needs citing silly reasons just like you do. The discos are saying, No, we won't intentionally run into debt just to satisfy parasites like you. An average Nigerian provides her own security so am wondering what a parasite like you is seeking to justify. You practically pay about N10 naira per month on electricity, while staying in a free quarters but yet will seek to denigrate Nigerians seeking to hold their leaders accountable over their tax used in taking care of your needs without much in return. |

preacherz:Big fat lie!! These Discos keeping seeking excuses to cover up their lapses. When was this survey done? And where are the facts? So why not simply disconnect them, if you discover that they have by-passed their meters? Or even get them arrested and prosecuted? Abujaexpress:Thank you, jare! You don talk am well! Let the Discos seek for an answer to this question!agabusta:Thank you, o jare! You have just answered the question on the kind of 'robust technology' that can be deployed to check electricity theft. This method may not be perfect, but it is a start. If the same devices or practice, can be deployed across board by other Discos to deter electricity thieves, am sure there would be some level of improvement. ![]() PentiumPro:You forgot to add that even when consumers pay for pre-paid meters, it takes them months to get it. And when those pre-paid meters get faulty, the Discos turn a blind eye and deaf ears to pleas made by consumers, who beg them to fix it. ![]() |

ayobase:So is it right to punish the innocent, for the sins of the guilty? So of course, they might decide not to pay or to challenge such bills. ![]() This is how we were given a bill of almost 65,000 naira in my family house on the mainland once, and I went to Eko Disco office to lodge a complaint. Before then, the average monthly bill was like 7k - 8k. And there was nobody living in the building except a security guard/caretaker. The Marketing Manager admitted clearly that they made an error in their calculation of the estimated bill, but told me flatly there was nothing they could do about it. I should just pay the bill. ![]() Well since I am not a politician or a Naira-bet pools agent with excess cash, I declined. They disconnected power from the house for over 8 months, and I ignored them. There was no one living there anyway, just a caretaker. We are still dragging the matter till today and exchanging plenty grammer, as we speak. ![]() |

Rejecting power is a form of corruption because the discos find a way to make the consumers pay for what they (discos) haven't earned through estimated bills. This is where government must come in and sanction erring discos. I believe with prepaid digital meters this corruption can be controlled. |

odogwubiafra:Report those marketers. Make a video of them as evidence to back up your claim. Many have been dismissed, and some imprisoned, but we need Nigerians to support the Discos to flush out corruption. The company bills based on what marketers' meter readings. Some marketers wouldn't go on field work to take readings, but making estimated readings and you will definitely get estimated billings. What to do; 1. Always monitor what you consume monthly with screenshots. 2. Have your copies of paid bills. 3. Know the marketer responsible for your cluster. 4. When there is any discrepancy, write the head Disco office in your area, and copy the Area Manager, Senior Manager (Distribution), Head Marketer and OMS. With your evidence, you can move mountain when you are being disconnected for not paying for what you never consumed. |

laudate:Discos are having major challenge with the marketers though. Is your house metered? I hope you were able to record what the Marketing Manager said. He admitted they made a mistake, and still expects you to pay up. He must have been conniving with his field marketers to rip people off. Ask your security guard if the marketers do come around to take meter readings monthly. |
