no wonder nothing more has been heard about MTN's fine...

so this was the price they had to pay instead... tap phones of Nigerians critical of this regime...

before some 'self righteous bigots' quote me, listen to the audio conversation between Fayose & Wike very well...

Stop turning logic on its head. How do you twist reasoning, and how can MTN tap calls? are you guys crudely ignorant?

There are legal procedure for demanding call logs and recorded data

The governors should sue the service provider for bridge of contract, this could be a long walk for the providers.

"Bridge" of contract ko, "Gadder" of contract ni. Whatever your illogic means, you think people just walk to court with baseless cases? on what basis are you going to sue the service provider for breach? Have you factored that the lines could have been bugged by even private investigators?

It is a crime for any govt apparatus to spy on its citizens without A COMPETENT COURT APPROVAL. The challenge I have here is will Fayose be able to prove beyond doubt that DSS actually intercepted his conversation. If he can establish this fact then he needs to sue.

It is very unfortunate that this country is gradually returning to a dictatorial, despotic and Totalitarian state. No respect for rule of law.

Court approval for DSS to spy on a target? Where did you get that from? which section of the DSS act or constitution did you see that? grin grin grin grin grin grin grin many of you just spew rubbish grin grin grin grin grin grin

Shameful, irresponsibile that DSS is now leaking Nigerians phone conversations to Sahara Reporters - Fayose

Read the statement below...
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has accused the Department of State Service (DSS) of recording telephone conversations of Nigerians perceived as critical of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) government, editing the conversations and leaking same to Sahara Reporters, which has now become the official propaganda platform of the federal government.

Governor Fayose, who said he was not bothered by the new sinister antic of the federal government, added that; "Rather than sitting down and be monitoring peoples phones, the federal government should provide food for Nigerians and save the lives of those that are being killed in Southern Kaduna and other places."

The governor, who reacted to his telephone conversation with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike that was published by Sahara Reporters today, through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said; “If the President and his hatchet men in the DSS, EFCC and other federal government agencies do not know what to do other than to record phone conversations of their perceived political foes, they should just resign and save the country from this harrowing experience."

He said it was obviously that they were being threatened by the complimentary comments of notable Nigerians like Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and others about him because those comments negate the cabal's evil intentions.

The governor described the DSS recording telephone conversations of Nigerians and leaking them to Sahara Reporters to publish as the height of the political rascality, manipulation, oppression, suppression and irresponsibility by agents of the federal government that are trying so hard to cover up the crimes they perpetrated against the people of Rivers State.

"They should even go beyond taping of my lines and come to live with me in Ekiti government house so that they can do per seconds live recordings of whatever I say because in the year 2017, by the grace of God, I will still say more without apology," he said.

Governor Fayose said for the first time since democracy returned to the country in 1999, Nigerians were celebrating Christmas and new year with hunger and sufferings beyond measure. "Nigerians are asking for food on their tables, they want employments, they want security, not recording of people's phone conversations and handing it to a road side online platform to publish.

"Unemployment and job loss are increasing at a very alarming rate while the electoral process is daily being bastardised. "Rather than tackling hunger and the country’s economic woes, they have embarked on diversionary tactics with irrelevant stories of Governors Wike and Fayose’s phone conversations, governors who do not bear arms and have no control over any security apparatus," the governor said.

He said: “I knew it before now that telephone conversations of prominent Nigerians, especially National Assembly members and opposition figures are being monitored, but I have remained unperturbed in my resolve to play my roles in rescuing Nigeria from the jaws of tyranny, which the present APC federal government represents."

While maintaining that the APC led federal government do not respect the laws of the country, Governor Fayose said; “They know that what they are doing is illegal and clear contravention of Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which provides that; ‘The privacy of citizens, their homes, correspondence, telephone conversations and telegraphic communications is hereby guaranteed and protected.’ “However, because they are criminally minded and are running a tyrannical government, using the DSS, EFCC and other agencies, one is not surprised at the current development.

He encouraged Nigerians not to keep silent in the face of this tyranny, saying; "it will get to everybody one day, some day.” He said; "Like I said before, their style has become so predictable. Whenever Nigerians cry of the pains and sufferings they are going through, they will come with flimsy stories like; “20 Chibok girls found,” “$1 billion found in Mr A, B or C bedroom,” “Boko Haram technically defeated,” “We have captured Sambisa forest,” "Governors Wike and Fayose’s phone conversations leaked," etc just to divert attention. "Regrettably, Governors Wike and Fayose that bear no arm remain their headache while their agents that bear arms like guns, armoured tanks and fighter jets etc, using them against Nigerians have not been called to question.

"Going by the barrage of pains being inflicted on Nigerians by his cluelessness, if I will give the President a candid advise, I will tell him to resign because he has failed Nigerians, whose votes he obtained by deception. Under his watch, Dollar is now N500 to $1, their is unprecedented hunger in the land, Nigerians are being killed in Southern Kaduna and other places, "It is better for the President to resign because he appears not to have capacity for positivity.

"If all the presidents that ruled before Buhari had behaved like he is behaving now, he himself will be in jail. "However, let me say it once again, I am one person who is not afraid of death or incarceration. I will keep telling Nigerians the truth, which obviously hurts Buhari and the cabal around him."

If you don't know what is happening, you better know that nobody is safe again in Nigeria as there are two things involved here. It's either the service provider sold out or the security agencies tapped their lines of which I expect wike to be smart by now. I would advise they use unconventional means to interact for now. Being in the opposition is not easy under bubu. Equally, it's unfortunate that the phone log of sitting governors are being published in public forum because it serves their own selfish interest. I expect wike & the rest to serve them back hot. More annoying is that they are using sahara reporters as a cover won't help them.

I was in Nigeria First week of August and things were bad but not in this manner, I was surprise to come back this December to see the peak of hardship and still people are suffering, smiling yet placing attention to useless details... Dam what a country.

We allow our sentiments, religious beliefs, ethnic boarder lines and our political veiws to cloud our sense of reasoning.

Who does that? Who has the right to listen to people's conversation over the phone? Dam who does that?

People are applauding the DSS for doing so... Wow, where have our senses gone to? How do we know that this useless security Agency have not been listening to our daily conversations?

It might me Wike and Fayose today, who will it be tomorrow ?

We are moving towards North Korea or what... Do we even have laws? What are those idiots at the senate doing?.... Now I agree with president Elect Trump that Nigeria needs recolonization.

Nigerians should be afraid of the future because I see this FG as group blood thirsty fellows that will never leave office even if the ballot papers says so.

You can still find some youths clamouring for #Atiku2019, then I ask myself, why are we this foolish, why do we chose to remain in chains?

There is no law in the land, the President is the law I guess? Because if there is a law in the land PMB will never be a President ever again, he should be in the prison answering a felony charges? Who rules a Nation Nigeria without SSCE ?

The media is being used to clamp down on truth, Niraland and its owners simply blocks individuals who want to speak up for the nation, yet they forget that that some individuals in this platform can as well create a forum like this and use $200,000 USD to push its publicity without even knowing that they spent money.... My point here is that the media is the first problem of this nation Nigeria.

People fail to understand that opposition puts any ruling party on their toes to perform better, without opposition we will be Cuba in making where a 15years old girl is a sex worker in the streets of Havana...... If anyone has been to Cuba and see the state of economic hardship there, they will pray for a better opposition.

Finally my fellow Nigerians, let's ask ourselves the truthful but hurting question:

Are we good being together as the so called one Nigeria?

Who and who benefits from this marriage?

If truely this marriage is working, why are we in this state?

Do we love each other? Can we ever love each other?

Who amongst us is willing to die for our father land? Are we truely patriotic?

We might be better if we decide to go our different ways since we have tried one pattern since 1960 yet no reasonable result... We have tired same formula for over half a century yet we arrive at a failed result, why can't we try another thing?

I have been to more than 21 countries in the world and I have meet an Igbo man and a Yoruba man wherever I go, either as a student, civil savant, businessman, street huzla etc, this group at part of the group that brought into our economy $22b USD last year and $29b USD this year and still in counting.... Then I ask myself, why can't we see an hausa man huzling in the street of Spain, what is the contribution of this group to the Nation Nigeria?

Nigeria wake up, youths wake up, .... This useless leaders no get joy and don't give a Bleep about us.

FG should be ashamed on their proxy war using DSS #buharihas0%integrity

Sad I had to quote your entire piece. My candid reaction to your post with emphasis on the subject matter:

1. The appropriate security agencies have a right to tap tele-conversations of any Nigerian who poses a threat to National Security and tender same during investigation or as evidence during prosecution.

2. It will be wrong, puerile and unlawful for such statutory agencies to however disseminate such information to the public ahead of a formal investigation process or prosecution.

3. Sahara Reporters (SR) as an entity does not represent any security agency of Nigeria and is not domiciled in Nigeria.

4. I suggest the alleged persons in the supposed audio file according to SR should seek legal redress if their rights have been breached either by unlawful spying by unauthorised persons or libel as a result of fabricated lies against them. I am sure there must be a way to seek redress and relief against companies domiciled outside Nigeria.

5. However beyond the fine letters, every discerning Nigerian should weep for Nigeria if there is an iota of truth or possibility that Wike's voice was what we heard chanting and boasting about his killing spree. This is the second audio file on the same subject with the same message of the will to commit or admittance of murder.

6. Ditto 5 above, the method of obtaining such evidence by SR becomes inconsequential. The global public commended wikileaks on thier expose of bad practices in governance despite the reaction of the affected governments.

7. The two gentlemen if true they had the conversation had no moral justification to complain about excessive presence of the security agencies, except for the stupid SARS officers caught on tape manhandling INEC officials and hijacking collation materials. I would have expected they will strategize on how to ensure the SARS lead was legally brought to book instead of the shameful conduct and mockery of the Nigerian Army.

Ekiti, a less volatile environment was soaked with similar security apparatus during the election that brought Fayose to power. Some opposition leaders at the time were even barred from any activity on the eve of the election while chieftains of the ruling party moved large cache of money from CBN coffers and Fayose a candidate was caught on tape with prominent members of the government intimidating the Military Head of the zone in the astute spirit of rigging.

Nonetheless, two wrongs do not make a right. The FG should have provided the right security required and ensured they were non partisan.

8. I think the APC is equally a bad amalgamation of precarious criminals. I strongly suggest the opposition should also continue to churn to the public however immoral it may seem any incriminating evidence against the party's members if any. Until then, we the electorate and employers of these useless politicians must demand accountability and ensure any erring public official irrespective of party affiliation must be investigated and punished accordingly with or without immunity.

9. There is no form of defence for a man who threatens to kill or alleges to have killed. We need to eschew sentiments and collectively fight the evil crop of leaders we have today.

If it is true that Fayose's aide confirmed that the phones were tapped, then I may conclude that Fayose also wishes to blackmail Wike or complicate issues for him. This is the only explanation for the hurried admittance notwithstanding the topic. Denial was the strongest defence of Wike's protagonists against this wicked audio content.

10. Lastly, a passing shot and digress from the topic: anyone who sees everything wrong with APC but sees everything right with PDP; OR sees everything wrong with PDP and sees everything right with APC, stinks of hypocrisy!

can you imagine a criminal who became a state governor by subverting the state which he has not been able to deny in Ekitigate, having the gut to challenge a state agency like DSS doing its legitimate business of protecting the state?

This is effect of wasting time and subscribing useless democratic nonsense that has allowed unrepentant bruterogues like Wike-d, Salaki n Fayosh to have festered. Shame on Mamman Daura n co . in a sane society ,Fayoshe should have been in jail after Ekitigate. Abba kyari, Dalung, Babachir etc should have been fired too.
It is a pity an uncouth rogue like Fayosh that is a serious threat to the state can have the gut to tell us how DSS should protect the state. No animal can't teach DSS human right.

First off, "security" and "internet privacy" are not exclusively out of the government security agencies coverage when surveillance is being carried out. Who told you encrypted calls cannot be decrypted by a third party/hacker? Or the attacks on Yahoo, Amazon and spate of cyber crimes in America for example is supposedly down to the inaction of the American government?

Meanwhile, lay off the ignorance. Your day-to-day calls is not supposed to be encrypted by the government? Gosh! How do some of you put illogic together
