I am dedicating this thread specifically for those who have lost passion for graphics, including myself. Let's re-ignite our passion together by assisting each other via tips and tweaks.

I was formerly, into photoshop, but I lost passion, cos of school, work and so on. I want to take a new start, a new step towards graphics/animations etc.

Please I am still a novice, we are all here to learn. Those of us with little knowledge can also take this quest. The professionals are also welcome.

I have downloaded the following softwares to my system:

For Whiteboard Animation: VideoScribe/ VideoMaker.

For Vector Graphics/Logos- SoThink Designer, Inkscape, GIMP, not forgetting the ones I have already- photoshop/AI.

I am starting with Inkscape for now.

All tutorials and videos for the aforementioned softwares were downloaded on Youtube/google.

P.S. Marketers I am not here to spoil your business oh.

some stuffs I have started working one.

Those among us who studied architectural related courses/ civil engineering, and have interest in architectural designs can download Chief Architect. exe or Room Exchanger. Both apps are used for designing houses and other interior designs.

here is a little something I was able to do with the app. It's easy to Use, anyone can learn it.

the same thing can also be achieved using SketchUpPro.

P.S I am still a Novice.

If you interested in Room/interior designs, houses, Estate Management planning/ Prototype...etc... You can download the apps above. There are very easy to Use.

I think it just requires some more practice.

Re: Re-ignite Your Passion For Graphics- Lets Take The Challenge Together by xxxtedyxxx(m): 1:16am On Jan 03, 2017
All the graphic softwares we need are already on google, even the tutorials.

Start small, and focus on different aspect of your software of choice. Be it Corel, Photoshop, Gimp..etc... Focus on a tutorial, maybe, how to remove background from a photo, how to smoothen rough faces, how to draw a tree with basic shapes, how to create typographical quotes. Focus on one tutorial at a time.

Try as much as possible to achieve the same effect as the tutor. Then get creative, add your own ideas, and have fun.

Here is a small typographical quote I created.

I will drop a fast way for creating graphic quotes with your software of choice. It's easy.

Most graphic quotes are 454 pixels in width, and about 344 pixels in height.

Scroll through any photo on your phone, click on options/properties, a page showing the size, storage location, pixel size of the image will appear.

most times you will see sth like this below.

ok following want to learn this first. practically following i have inscape installed an open for action
Re: Re-ignite Your Passion For Graphics- Lets Take The Challenge Together by xxxtedyxxx(m): 1:44am On Jan 03, 2017
For the photo above, the pixel size is 634 x 634. That means the photo is a. perfect square.

By the way, pixel stands for - picture element.

So to get started with quotes..

We most understand something called Layers first. There is no grqphics/animation/2d/3d app that doesn't make use of layers.

I think Layers, in simple terms, just means how objects are stacked on each other.
Re: Re-ignite Your Passion For Graphics- Lets Take The Challenge Together by xxxtedyxxx(m): 1:49am On Jan 03, 2017
Take a look at the image below. The books have been arranged in different layers.

The top most layer is the one with opened pages. The last layer ( relative to the. books) is the last book on the table.

check it out.

Even the table is on a different layer of its own. The Brown wall is the background.

So that's basically about layers. One object stacked on another, in front of another, beneath another.. etc...

Dont ever forget this.

Layers is to Graphics and Animation as Preposition is to Grammar.

So like I said, we will be starting with something easy- graphic quotes.

Don't worry, you can do it. Its not hard at all.

The steps might be different depending on your app of choice, but the basic concept remains the same.

I will explain the general method first, then talk about how to do it with inkscape.

General Method First.

1. Get your reference photo.
For the quote above, I used olamide. You can use any crispy clear photo. Make sure you consider whether your photo is landscape or portrait. Landscape is horizal/ Portrait is Vertical.

2. Set your document size.

3.Copy and paste your reference photo into the app.

4 Click on the photo and duplicate it.

5. Apply any filter effect on the photo. You are working on the duplicate now. The aim is to apply any form of dreamy effect on the duplicate. The effect should still make the photo recognizeable.

6. Now reduce the opacity or transparency of this duplicate layer, so as to expose a little of the original copy underneath.

7. Create a new layer and draw a rectangle over the while image. Color the rectangle black.

8 Now reduce the transparency of the whole rectangle to cause a form of transparency for the two reference photos under.

Note. MosT Graphic Quote Pica as per the ones that have to do with musicians, use a kind of dark background.

that is..the reference photo is styled, and then darkened. Then white fonts are used to finish the whole thing.

what if the pixel does not form a perfect square?

it doesn't matter. I actually used That's an example. The bottomline is.. after checking the property of the photo, use the same pixel to determine the size your workspace In corel, photoshop etc.
