Should Pidgin English Be Adopted As Nigeria's Official Language by Rockyrascal(op): 8:00pm On Jan 03, 2017
This argument was brought fought by a radio presenter earlier on today tasking people to share their views. To me,I feel adopting the Pidgin language would sure have more disadvantages Than its advantages to we nigerians.
So I want all to share their views and opinions on the topic, click like if you think pidging english shouldn't be adopted and share if you think it should. grin

That will be good but that is not our problem now, before our senate will abandon the most important issue and start debating about it. Our problem for now is hunger grin. How do we come out of recession lol

No, there is no need trying to fight a list battle with the official English language and other official language.

My thesis was on this topic. From the cultural and religious divide that constantly permeates Nigeria's existence,it will be difficult...though there are prospects but with the current sociopolitical reality it is almost impossible.Just my opinion!!

No
Pidgin English is also known as broken English,
It is a corrupted form of English having no guidelines regulating it.
If we were to create guidelines it no longer becomes pidgin English.
We should not be bothered about a second language now.
What Nigeria should be thinking of is building their own machine language, coding concept , shunning tribalism , religious fanaticism, indeginization, class strata and working on being better people.

Hell No. Stepping up to english is better than stepping down to pigin. If u can read pigin then u can read english but understanding written english don't guarantee you understanding written pigin.

Pick one of the smaller indigenous languages like Tiv, Igala, or Efik and make it the national language.

Using pidgin English is thoughtless. Are we going to be speaking IMPORTED European languages FOREVER or what?

Just because we were colonised for what? 70 years? It does not mean we all end up speaking the coloniser's language forever. And pidgin IS the coloniser's language, 'broken' or not.

If all it takes is a few decades of colonial rule to get us all to speak permanently in European languages, it shows we are a very weak and fickle people with no backbone, dignity, or resilience.
