Remember your post about man made laws and their inability to be perfect? Yet you rate the approval of lies or lack of approval to human beings?

Since human laws are not perfect how can you claim israels awarding of a medal to someone who lied as the approval that some lies are good.

I gave a clear example of what I meant by harmless. I don't consider any of the examples he gave as harmless. He sighted stealing and lying about it. I do not consider them to be harmless lies.

If you ask a child not to eat till you return and the child decides to eat anyway because they were hungry and you return and the child lies that he or she has not eaten was it harmful to you?

If you ask your child not to watch television but in your ignorance you forget that there is a very educative program your kid loves watching and he or she disobeys you and watches the program in your absence but lie to you that they did not watch television. Was it harmful to you?

Non of what you've brought up qualifies as a harmless lie. From theft, now you have moved to disobedience. This are not things I consideras harmless lies. I have given you an example. Bro learn to read. I said there are some lies that are good and I gave the example lying to terrorist amd to a husband that wants to kill his wife as examples of lies that are good. I then said some lies not good or bad and are harmless because they do not harm anybody and as an example I said the type of lies comedians tell. Those lies are purely for entertainment . Its not a bad thing to lie when you want to prevent a horrible evil like a save a friend's life from evil looking guys who ask for his information or in time of civil war when pogroms are being carried against a particular tribe and you tried to save a family from that tribe by misleading the killers. These are extremely rare conditions .

Just like killing your attacker to save your life . You won't be condemned by God for self defense .

But in your case , you can do these things even when there are no extenuating circumstances like telling a lie to deceive your friend for him to fall for a prank . Or your kid tells a lie that he went to visit a friend while he went to play football at the park
