The imo state government led by Rochas Okorocha had gone ahead to compel pensioners in the state to forfeit 60% of their entitlements and take home only 40%.


Six different categories of pensioners were owed between 22 months and 77 months by the state government.

“Civil pensioners are owed 22 months, local government pensioners 23 months, retired primary school teachers 32 months, IBC pensioners 44 months, retired permanent secretaries 22 months and Alvan Ikoku pensioners 77 months,’’

The government is now using its agents to force pensioners to sign document it prepared, which by extension will make any pensioner that signs the document to forfeit his/her 60 per cent arrears.

Since wen did the center crumbled? Jst two years now but heck out the number of months he owes them then u will knw that he has not paid most of them since his first tenure even wen his the state allocation was 100%

do you know that the federal government released 500billion to states across the country to offset all arrears being owed by state government on or before the Xmas. But rochas okorocha didn't do it, they federal government has been releasing money to states but nothing to show for it. Former governor of Anambara state Peter obi said that governors can pay salaries and pensions. It's just greed that is stopping them from doing, I wonder what kinda sadistic joy rochas okorocha derives from seeing old people as old as his parents suffering. I'm from Imo State and this pension issue was one of the reasons we sent Ohakim parking. Okorocha can be faulted for paying 40% of arrears to higher grade level pensioners but he inherited most of the arrears and isn't the one owing them. We can argue that government is a continum but lying and amplifying false information is itself evil.

May all your family members die in a ghastly accident if 90% of the pension arrears were inherited by Okorocha. Say amen to that.

I hope all ex governors, permanent secretaries, present and future top politicians, would also be made to forfeit 60% of all their past, present and future entitlements?

Until we begin to fight these emperors called governors in all states of the federation to begin to treat people as humans and not as animals. That's when we can move forward as a nation. Federal govt can do everything for us. Some of these governors collected bail-out funds for payment of salary arrears in November 2016 yet they refused to pay workers' salaries owed for several months. Ondo state is owing since may 2016, Fayose of Ekiti state owes since July 2016 but if it were to be Buhari owing salary now Fayose would have gone to the press shouting on top of his voice that Buhari is wicked for not paying workers' salaries. Oyo state too is owning several months. Aregbesola of Osun state has paid all his outstanding salaries. People are already used to hardship in this country and that is why people can't come out to ask for what belong to them again. This is terribly BAD .............
