Great. There is now a new US ambassador from the new Trump administration. In my humble opinion, Obama's Africa policy was self contradictory, and tied it's self all in knots. Give Nigeria demining equipment to demine the access routes to sambisa forest to free the chibok girls, but don't sell them tucano COIN planes to help achieve the same goal. Letting amnesty international dictate their Nigerian policy, but not letting it guide their Saudi, Egyptian, Chadian, Cameroonian relationships. One would think only Nigeria had human right issues to deal with. Also, Obama snubbed or lectured African leaders, even though he criticized G.W. Bush for doing likewise to Iran and North Korea. Dude was sensitive enough to bow to the Saudi king, but dissed a whole continent just because he was displeased with corrupt leadership. I hope he is not hoping for many African speaking engagements, post his presidency. GW bush will be forever known and appreciated for his 15 billion usd HIV drugs funding. Obama on the other hand was to leave his legacy to Africa in power generation. But of course they won't fund Coal fired plants or other so called dirty sources. Even though these are still employed in US and Europe. Just as in the case of Nigeria and amnesty International, he would let the greens hold his Africa energy policy hostage. Other then that, he is a very smart guy. |

bidexiii:Terrorist baby her family has to accept. So who will marry her now? Foolishness of value SSCE more than her own life. You can miss NECO this year and write it next year. See her life now, who will marry her with Boko Haram baby she born? There is price to pay for foolish action. I sympathize with her but its her parents I blame more. Careless in time of danger when you know there is war and you just donate yourself to Boko Haram |

Odunayaw:The guy was right same way you are making sense. The government is known to be lethargic security-wise, it is expected of the parents to withdraw their wards as they are all aware of what they are contending with in the NE. The borno government should be held responsible for the abduction of those pupils...they will reap their rewards here on Earth. |

We Will Never Allow Boko Haram Regroup Again – Airforce Chief The Nigerian Air Force has vowed to ensure that remnants of Boko Haram terrorists are not allowed to regroup again in any part of the country to pose a threat to lives and properties. Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar stated this yesterday while giving account on the activities of the Air Force in 2016. He said the Nigerian Air Force was expanding its operations to checkmate security threats in the North-east, South-south, South-west and other parts of the country. He explained that the incessant cases of insecurity in the country where armed groups in the North-east and some part of the South have continued to hold the nation hostage will be checkmated with the expansion. Abubakar said: “We are now expanding the structure because we see the need for it. After analysing the threats emerging, we realised that the four commands we have are no longer adequate, and we have established the fifth command with the support of the federal government. “Apart from the field command, we also have the medical branch now. It used to be a directorate, now it’s a branch because we are expanding. We are recruiting more people, by the end of this year, at least, we should have additional 5000 recruits. “With the expansion, you must reactivate. That is why we are reactivating airplanes; that’s why we are bringing in more airplanes and helicopters. “We have also acquired one of the most sophisticated helicopter gunship in the world today; that is the MI35-M which was brought into Nigeria last week. We are also enhancing coordination with other services, particularly, the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy. “Where we feel there are threats, we will call in our fighter airplanes to clear those threats so that we can have effective operation. We have also enhanced our bases. It is not likely that anybody can threaten our bases now unlike in 2013 when we didn’t have the right structure. In terms of what we have done in training and IT, it will be suicidal for anyone to attempt any of our bases. “In 2017, we are going to do more. We are going to ensure that we add value to what is on ground. For the North-east, our focus now generally is to ensure that Boko Haram does not regroup anywhere. “Our men are flying to ensure that these guys do not regroup to constitute any threat to our troops or any community in the North-east.” He also spoke in respect for human rights: “we have changed the curriculum for training; we have included the aspect of respect for human rights and we have given them the basic understanding of humanitarian law that was not there before. |

Mutinous soldiers released Ivory Coast's Defence Minister Alain Richard Donwahi late Saturday after detaining him for two hours in a tense standoff over pay. Donwahi flew into the West African country's second city Bouake earlier Saturday in a bid to defuse an escalating crisis. According to an AFP photographer, he was whisked out on a plane from the local airport shortly after his release. President Alassane Ouattara had announced a deal to end the dispute Saturday evening following talks between Donwahi and the soldiers, who took control of Bouake early Friday. But angry troops rejected the terms of the agreement, firing Kalashnikov rifles and heavy weapons outside local government offices where they were meeting to block Donwahi and his team from leaving. Katyusha:Many wise parents withdrew their daughters from that Chibok school to write their SSCE exams in safe north states like Bauchi. The other parents who left their own daughters to write the same exam in a Local Government Area that Boko Haram men have been known to be hunting for young girls to kidnap or rape are the daft people like you |

Al Shabaab militants recapture town near Kismayo town Al Shabaab fighters have retaken control of Bulo-Gadud near the port town of Kismayo from Jubbaland state forces backed by the African Union (AU) troops, who seized it earlier on Friday, Garowe Online reports. Residents said the militants had encountered a light resistance from the allied forces during the takeover. Bulo-Gadud lies some 30 km away from Kismayo, and is now under Al Shabab’s control. Jubbaland troops with the support of Ethiopian forces serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have earlier pushed out Al Shabaab from several villages in the outskirts of the coastal town of Kismayo last week. However, AMISOM and Jubbaland are yet to release a statement concerning the fall of Bulo-Gadud district to Al Shabaab militants. There had been deadly clashes between local herders and Al Shabaab in northern areas of Kismayo over the past weeks, after the militants stole thousands of camels from the nomads. Despite being forced out of Kismayo back in 2012 by allied Somali and Kenyan Defense Forces (KDF), Al Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab group still maintain a presence in large areas of southern and central regions of Somalia |
