Bros, all 12 will be delivered by 2018.

"As for the contract for the delivery of Mi-35M helicopters, signed in October 2015, it is in the process of implementation by 2018. It has been planned to supply two vehicles until the end of 2016," Anatoly Punchuk told RIA Novosti at the Africa Aerospace and Defense-2016 (AAD 2016) exhibition, adding that the contract provides for the supply of 12 helicopters.

pls remove Ukraine and Uae the don't have d capacity.
Israel will b limited by US.
China is the best choice for the main time.
I quite agreed that Ukraine and UAE should be removed from the list. Let's look forward to Trump's foreign policy and how he relate with Israel... That will give us a hint on what we can get/buy from Israel that has Yanks input.
Obama was just a disaster to africa.

I thought we use to have 9 attack helicopters
We lost 3 units which were then replaced by the 3 Mi-24v helicopters from Ukraine. So, we went back to 12.

OGA Giles calm down,na say them dey pay am or wetin?? The listed above are facts obtained from the CAS himself at least you should have questioned his source first before the baseless accusations, I personally am not happy with the slow, poverty stricken way the military acquires it's equipments but truth be told the present CAS has done better than his predecessors...

Nice vehicles, but your project Biro is taking too long to actualise. Are we going to see any by 2020 at all.

Your boss visits often? That's nice.

We are glad NAF public relations is good, but High Definition photos won't be a bad idea either. Anyway an insider perspective on things are welcome. Like I said previously, you're not alone here, there are other soldiers and sailors from Nigeria and South Africa here.

Financial problems mate... the whole Government is cutting spending and during peace-time Defence allways gets hit the worst (unless you are Botswana).

The first ship will be ready within 18 months of the contract being signed.

No hangar for the OPVs?

The Same IPV is widely used in Nigeria. I'm sure we have like 8 units. Although they are mainly used by local PMCs.

And we increase the number of MI-35 helicopter by 12

These guys never get much recognition and yet they've been a constant in every single deployment involving air assets. Everyone knows about the Navy's MRS but not the SAAF's 500 Squadron (Rapid Reaction/Task Force) and 501 Squadron (base protection).

The Buhari government increased the number by 6. We now have the most advanced attack helicopter in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Avoid using words like "better, best, most" in the same sentence with "Africa"... Patriotism is rife here.

I would like to know the most advanced helicopter in Sub-Saharan Africa though. I thought someone will say something about the comment.

Which of these two helicopter is more advanced Rooivalk or Mi-35M?

@patches I do not intend to start another problem here.
I just want to know.

Please comment with a good reason or remain silent on the matter.

No I am not.

If it was the Mi-29 or Ka-50 I would say them.

But the Mi35? Nah, Rooivalk.

I just dont have the time or energy to make a proper argument right now.

I don't even want it to be an argument, all I want to know is why we feel 1 is more advanced than the other.

In terms of capabilities they are every similar to me but I want to here from others too.

The Rooivalk have old avionics, they are expensive and the French are not giving any guarantee for the key spares which are not even produced in South Africa. These are the reasons why no one is interested in Rooivalk. Even the SAAF is playing safe and it's not just about the money.

http://m.engineeringnews.co.za/article/what-went-wrong-with-the-rooivalk-2007-06-08-1/rep_id:4433

The MI-28 and KA-50 are not in the same league with Rooivalk.

We can only compare Rooivalk with MI-35 which have different variant
