The thing is, these sites; OLX, jiji, Efritin.com, Nairaland, etc. are all created to bring sellers and buyers together from the comfort of their offices or homes.
It makes it easier to FIND what you want to buy, negotiate and then schedule a meet and if product is as seen online, a purchase is made.
Say you want to buy a car in Lagos for example, you can't go through all the car lots, not in a month even if you left everything else.
Jiji warns clearly, for buyers to not pay in ADVANCE! Not even for delivery alone.
Are there scammers on jiji? Of course! There are scammers everywhere. My last employer was a scammer. Heck! Your sons scam you in school fees and other moneys they collect for nothing.
The only solution is to pay for goods upon delivery, upon inspection, take your thing and go.
The scam posts are not hard to identify. They're ridiculously priced low and always somewhere close to a northern border or somewhere else you can't go easily.
Below is an ad of mine on jiji. Same ad is on Nairaland.

Kindly Tap on username for available cars. Thanks. smiley

Well don't know about op and the rest but I listed my Benz on nairaland and jiji. Got more calls from Jiji and finally sold it to a doctor in Osun State. It was a converted CLK so I had to sell it cheap. Bought my present car, A Solara from someone on jiji. Got it at a good price but had to do a lot of body work.

If you don't mind, would like to have an idea of how much you got the Solara...am thinking of getting one. Also, what's your experience with been like so far? Thanks!

Honestly, for a good Nigerian used Solara you will be looking from 500k. Mine was a bit more expensive cos it came with up to date papers, and then it had no issues with engine or gear or tires. It had also never been in an accident. I just worked on the body and did oil change and gear servicing and changed the battery. The guy I bought it from wanted to upgrade.

It's been very cool. Just normal maintained stuff. But you need to keep in mind that Solara is a low car so you need to be wary of driving through pot holes and bad roads.
It's easy on the hand too. If you are lucky, your may come with some driver assist feature.
Please go with a mechanic you can trust. Not someone who will convince you to buy a car for more than its worth and get a cut from the money.
Hope this helps.

The problem with some Nigerians is greed. How can you see a listing telling you to buy a recent tokunbo highlander for hundreds of Naira instead of millions that it's worth and then you think it's real? If a listing tells you to rent an apartment in Lekki for 100,000 won't you know it's scam?

If you get scammed like that, please that's your fault.

Some of them (Naija used) are real but then you need to consider that the car may not be as clean as advertised hence the need for physical inspection.
In my search for another car, I inspected over 7 cars and only 2 lied about the condition of the car. I ended up buying one of the 5 and haven't regretted my decision.

I bought the car on the Jiji and all is well wink

Please be very careful dealing with people on jiji.... most of them are scammers but only few are real. I tried buying Benz c300 on the site last year December... most of the ads that I contacted are fake. They're telling me to send 50k first so that they'll bring the car to me. I'm not a f.o.o.l.... I just forget d idea of buying online. Even nairaland is full of scammers too, I contact some fake ones too dat time. I can't buy any car online... especially from dos dat call themselves dealers.

You are wrong! Still I never got on the scams out there.

Thanks for the feedback Jare. I hope others will see that by following simple rules, you may get the best jiji has to offer.

I am on the lookout for used glass shelf and I have search Jilin. Unfortunately none met my standards. That's how much I like using their site.

Jiji is a smart web platform where you can buy and sell anything. This is an online platform where everyone can be a sell or a buyer

Scammers abound everywhere, online and offline. Like most people here have said, jiji and its like are meeting point, you then apply your wisdom from there. I bought a very clean and near new Audi last year . And at an unbelievable price too. Owner already bought a new car. First question that determines whether I will push ahead for any advert is to know if the seller is the owner. This gives much confidence.

This is 2022. 50% of car adverts on jiji now are scammers. They post a good car for a ridiculous price, then ask you to send 35k for the car to be brought to you for inspection
