What of remote controlled?
Since the use of remote-controlled detonator has been rampant starting from August last year.

Fresh of the heels from deployment to India for IBSAMAR, the SA Navy is sending a Frigate off to Germany for Exercise Good Hope VII.

- SAS Amatola is scheduled to depart Naval Base Simon’s Town on 16 January
- She is expected to arrive in Rota, Spain, on 2 February to refuel.
- On 4 February the ship will sail to Plymouth, England, to arrive on 8 February.
- SAS Amatola will participate in British Operational Sea Training (BOST) whilst in England from 8 to 18 February and then proceed to Portsmouth to arrive on 19 February.

BOST as "demanding but rewarding,” combining surveys of the physical condition of the ship with tests of the crew's readiness for deployment, including a warfighting and damage control scenario. The objective is to ensure the ship is at the right level of operational capability to progress to multinational, task group training. This is not the first time Amatola has participated in the RN BOST work-up inspection, as she was the first South African ship to do so when she underwent the same rigorous exercise in 2007.
- On 21 February the vessel will commemorate the centenary of the sinking of the SS Mendi
- On completion of the commemoration, Amatola will proceed to Kiel, Germany for Exercise Good Hope VII
- Exercise Good Hope will take place from 27 February to 5 March.
- On completion of the exercise the ship will do a historic visit to Rostock (previously part of East Germany) before sailing back to Rota in Spain to refuel between 19 and 21 March.

The South African National Defence Force said that from Spain the SAS Amatola will visit:
--> Tema, Ghana, between 30 March and 3 April
--> Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, between 6 and 8 April
--> Luanda, Angola, between 11 and 13 April;
--> Walvis Bay, Namibia, between 17 and 19 April.

Good oppertunity for some northerners to pay her a visit if she swings by your country

you could easily counter remote -controlled detonators with man pack jammers .but the real reason toggle switches are used.it because they are cheap and easy to make as a trigger, compared to remote controlled devices

Yes I know reason why I said suicide bombers. You are not expecting a suicide bomber at a particular location so the use of remote detonation should still be common.

Seems most female suicide bombers at some instances, have someone with a remote detonator.

I mentioned this back in Oct/Nov, and at the time, the West African ports had not been finalised. Still said I hoped Algeria -similar frigates and user of SA defence products - would be included. Why we're visiting Obiang's dictatorship, I don't know. No Nigeria huh. At the time there was talk of either Senegal or Ivory Coast. and what's the point with both Angola and Namibia when they're just up the road?

I strongly suspect the SANDF conceded too much to the bumbling DIRCO in this.

use of remote detonation is used when there is doubt he/she (the suicide bomber) is unwilling to go through with the mission or he/she is deceived and used as a courier to deliver the explosive device to the intended target .its true they could be using that method, considering a deceived child could easily pass through most security check due to their assumed innocence .but lack the will to go through with the mission

Right, I'll come out and say it because it's been bothering me all weekend:
The advertisements for the tent-hire company cheapen the occasion. If they were too uncouth to respect the fallen by themselves, the client (presumably military or government) should have insisted.

We call them Canopy. That's the way they(Tent providers) brand their symbols all over their tents in Nigeria. They probably don't have any that plane.

Don't really care for the reasoning. An occasion to remember and honour the fallen should be treated with respect. Not the place for peddling one's wares.
As you can tell, I'm quite old-fashioned about these things, from presidents donning uniforms they've not earned to the commodification of Remembrance Day. angry angry angry
