I will give you just one - Skye! Find out others
Re-ea-ally? shocked I know a few entry-level graduates there, and what they earn is less than you have quoted. And Skye bank is just one out of 26+ banks that operate in Nigeria. So you need to give us the names of others who also pay these kind of salaries to their entry-level staff. He who asserts must prove! undecided

I see. You live with your parents so housing, feeding & transport is taken care of, by them. Just curious. What kind of figures do entry-level graduates get for housing? You made it seem as if your own experience holds true for most banks.
I have a car so my transport is taken care of myself.

I'm away from the house all day during d week and i only eat at home on sundays. I also pay some of the bills at home

Housing varies. Depending on the bank. Can be anything from 300k to 700k paid in january every yr. Apart from ur normal salary

Gudday Sir. I will really love a bank job and since u have 25years experience with them I guess u have have grounds. I will need help on getting a bank job. Pls pm me. Thank u
Olufunso50:
Having worked in the banking industry for many years,I am delighted to share my experiences with the up coming bankers

1. It is not easy getting a job in the banks nowadays as a result of the dwindling economic situation. However it is compulsory for banks to recruit new hands because banks retrenched workers regularly.Major recruitment in to banks nowadays are on contract basis. The pay package is not as attractive as for permanent staff. The pay packages for a graduate at entry level ranges from N250k to N,300k per month for permanent staff and 40k to N60k for temporary staff.Banks does not discriminate academic disciplines, In fact majority of my colleagues who are bank managers are science graduates

You need to have an insiders, not necessarily a top management staff it could even be a teller or security man who will volunteer information on pending recruitment.Majority of the recruitment exercise are never advertised publicly.

You must learn how to prepare a CV that followed the stipulated patterns if you are to be contacted for test and interview.Majority of the questions will be quantitative reasoning,logic,...In short GMAT.Also familiarise yourself with happenings in economic and political environment.

If you are lucky to get a banking job,the employer will train you on all aspect of the job.We have many departments. The departments are categorised under under two broad headings, namely Marketing and Operation

Your salary will not be paid to you embloc at month end.You will receive sum amount upfront and the remaining monthly. This explains why many bankers are always broke...to be continued

Some people and ITK. Accusing someone of making sweeping generalisations whilst doing exactly the same. Averages mean some banks pay at the lower end of the range and others at the higher end. No one is claiming ALL banks pay 250k entry level.
Re: Thinking Of Working In The Bank? My 25 Years Of Experience Will Help You by MakeUpAfrica: 1:15pm On Jan 16, 2017
I don't know if marketing has the lowest payment for a bank job, I know of someone that works with the marketing department of fcmb, his pay is just 25k monthly and he is a graduate, please I need more clarification on this.

Perhaps they are not telling you the truth about what they earn.

Entry-level graduates hardly get anything substantial from profit-sharing, at the end of the year. Graduate programmes are usually a feature of multinational banks. Very few local banks have this programme. What kind of upfront payments are entry-level graduates entitled to? And how much is it? And in 1.5 years you saved 5 million?? shocked Do you live with a relative and do not pay rent, or do you work in the forex dept of a bank and you do back door deals? Just asking.
He probably oversees the Vault grin

What you don't know is above you.

Who no go, no go know. Someone is talking about CORE staff, and people are thinking he's talking about tellers and all those people who smile for you when you step into a banking hall.

Two of my course mates who joined the banking sector in 2013, started with 240k as entry level salary. Same bank.

Nigerian youths can only do well when they learn to ask the right questions.

That's true and your experience shows your a strong man. I noticed one thing today when I walked into diamond bank branch in alaoji aba. That place was so hot I preferred outside to the bulk room. One teller was sweating and the other fanning himself, I now ask myself assuming I got employed here with this kind of situation, will I last up to a year considering you have worked 25 good years. Please help me pass it on o because those managing that branch are extremely wicked.

Nah, you are the one that will end up looking stupid. undecided There are over 28 commercial banks in Nigeria. You have mentioned just one as paying 207k monthly, while 2 other people mentioned Access & Skye bank as paying over 240k monthly. Are you saying those 3 examples are the norm in all the other banks, which are the majority? I have worked with bankers before, and I know many people who are entry level staff in most banks. Their salaries in many banks are lower than what you quoted up here. Why don't you conduct your research on all the remaining banks before coming here to misyarn?? sad

The banking sector in Nigeria is one of highest paying sector as far as salaries are concerned. What banks pay their workers however differs from bank to bank. This is partly due to the fact that there are no particular regulations that stipulate what private organisations should pay their workers. Also, the financial strength, customer base and performance of the bank are other factors responsible for how much a bank pays.

Here is what some banks pay their staff in Nigeria.

Zenith Bank
Zenith bank which is regarded as one of the most stable and reliable banks in Nigeria as of today pays its entry level staff about N110,000 (One hundred and ten thousand) monthly, which comes to about N1,320,000 (One million, three hundred and twenty thousand Naira) per annum. This is reasonably good enough for young graduates who know what they are doing. Suffice to say that this payment subsists only for the probation period of about a year, after which the salary increases.

First Bank
As the name implies, First Bank is seen by many as the strongest bank in Nigeria and the bank has many achievements to prove this point. First Bank’s pay for its entry level staff goes between N90,000 to N110,000 monthly depending on department or unit. And this increases with confirmation and as you grow in rank within the system. Though FBN is the oldest bank in Nigeria, many people still prefer to work there because they believe that the chances of job security here are higher than some new generation banks.

GTBank
GTB stands as the bank of the masses, yet maintaining a very positive and professional outlook. GTB pays her staff at entry level the sum of N209,000 per month after confirmation, which makes it one of the highest paying banks in Nigeria.

Fidelity Bank
Fidelity is one of the new generation banks, but has done quite well within a short period of its existence. The bank started as a Mortgage bank in 1988 and converted to a commercial bank in 1990. On the salary scale, it is doing pretty well too for its staff. Fidelity pays about N140,000 monthly at entry level, an amount many young graduates will agree is good enough to start planning life with in Nigeria.

Central Bank of Nigeria
It is also good to know what the apex bank pay its staff. CBN does one month training for its new intakes and pays N122,000 per month afterwards. This is aside the many mouth-watering allowances. Many industry watchers say CBN is the master when it comes to allowances. So what is lacking in actual salary is made up for in allowances. https://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/what-nigerian-banks-pay-their-workers.115180/

Ask anybody that went through access bank training school

They start on 240k monthly

Just because you don't know doesn't mean it doesn't exist
I confirm though very close to 240k when rounded up but not exactly 240k.
Anyways, you're right.

Nigerians are indeed an interesting set of people. Someone comes out to share his experience as an expert (yes, 25yrs experience in any field gives you an authority of some sort) to the upcoming ones, and you all begin to attack him even before he finishes what he's saying. Where did you see him arguing with anybody?
No wonder many accomplished Nigerians don't feel it worth their time to mentor anybody.
My brother, I spent nine years in banking, I left in 2013. no bank since 2011 is paying such for entry level. They are not even doing proper employment again but on contract. That's why they prefer hnd to b.sc (though most b.sc perform below expectations) and the salary ranges between 50k and 90k
