UNIMAID Attack Is An Attack On Education - Atiku by BeeBeeOoh(op): 7:37pm On Jan 16, 2017
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described as a dangerous development Monday’s suicide bomb attack on a mosque at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).
He said the attack on the UNIMAID mosque was particularly worrisome, having come at a time when the terrorist group was clearly degraded.

“We cannot afford to be complacent now or in the future,” he also said in a statement released by his media office in Abuja.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who condemned the attack, said the attack on UNIMAID was not just about a bomb exploding in a mosque, but that education in the northeast is under attack.

He said Nigeria had not experienced any such act of terrorism perpetrated within a school after the February 2014 attack on the Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, in which 40 male students were murdered, as well as the April 2014 kidnapping of over 200 girls from their school dormitory in Chibok.

The Turakin Adamawa also stated that a lack of education was one of the most alarming threats to security in the northeast.

Many of the terrorists, he added, have been shown to be people who have either never had the chance or ability to read the Koran for themselves and interpret the tenets of Islam beyond the false teachings of their terrorist commanders.

“A sound education will provide our youth with the ability to analyse and make informed decisions, an opportunity that many young people in the northeast of Nigeria do not have at present, making it easy for false teachers to control them,” he also said.

Atiku, who condoled with the families of the deceased, students and staff of UNIMAID over the loss of lives, also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.

Too bad indeed. By this logic, an attack on , say Atiku or Saraki, is an attack on greedy politicians?

Them northerners never see anything. By the time the bombers visit their traditional rulers palaces, no body would remind them to condemn the terrorists and do the needful...

May the souls of the victims of the terrorists RIP Amen

Until you guys expose and disown your foot soldiers cum terrorists, and publicly own up to the unholy pact you signed with them, Northern Nigeria may never know peace.

The blood of many innocent Nigerians that you shed in your unbridled quest for Aso Rock power is crying unto God for vengeance, even from their untimely graves. Likewise are orphans and widows crying for vengeance.

Evil Association of Protected Criminals (APC), hear ye this: God sees and hears those being oppressed and murdered by your foot soldiers in the name of Boko Haram or Fulani herdsmen.

]We all knw that this Boko haram issue was master minded by greedy politicians just to tarnish Jonathan's regime so as to chase him out of power, now it is difficult for them to curtail Boko Haram agaian. According to the so called messiah, the chibok gals were not touched nor harm while a pastor who happens to reside there claimed the so called gals were molested and some even forced to convert. The so called govt also claimed that a white man was involved in this Boko haram only for us to be told letter that he died in battle. Nigerians, which way foward? We all knw that the so called APC are the sponsors of Boko Haram and now the issue is out of hand and it can't be curtailed again so they are looking for all means to stop it. in Southern Kaduna ,their been lots of killings but just few politicians condemend this act, I rest ma case.

In light of the terrorist attacks over the years and the one that just occurred at the University of Maiduguri, I urge ALL well meaning Muslims to begin looking into bringing about the reformation of Islam as a religion. Here are some suggestions that I have. Please, do not see any of these suggestions as an attack on Islam. This is just my own effort at trying to look for solutions for a problem that has tarnished the image of Muslims not only in Nigeria but all over the world. So a few suggestions are:

1. Eliminate Madrasas. These schools have served as a breeding ground to brainwash children. Some of these brainwashed children can then grow up to be terrorists. Muslim children should be sent to normal schools were they learn English, Arithmetic, reasoning and logic. This will equip them to think critically as adults not only about religion but also about politics and world events.

2. Declare some parts of the Quran and Hadith as haram: Some parts of the scriptures are just plainly wrong. For example, the command to kill those who do not believe in Islam. Christians used to have a similar problem with the Old Testament and they were able to solve it by placing their attention on the New Testament. If something similar can be done in Islam it will go a long way to help address this issue of radicalization.
