Nigeria's issues are very fundamental. How do you send policemen with live ammunition to confront protesters? Where is the training for crowd control? When are we going to hand over the Federal police to the various states? Buhari made that his campaign promise, Osinbajo even reiterated it recently. The genesis of this entire Shite-army/ Shite/police conflict was the inability of the police to quell a simple protest over the right of way for the Chief of Army staff. The same thing with Boko haram. The insurgency started after the police killed innocent people protesting the detention and subsequent extra judicial killing of Mohammed Yusuf.
Very small and insignificant problems like simple crowd control mechanisms by the police, have led to the killing of thousands and thousands of people and the displacement of more.
Nigeria's problems are very simple, but fundamental. We need to take care of the simple first before we move forward.
