A colleague has 2 150W Poly crystalline Solar Panels that have been used for a year and she's looking to sell them, she's upgraded to a bigger solar system and is looking to sell the 150W Panels. They are still in excellent condition.

I have this battery that comes with a charger and distributor that I use on my laptop. The charger got fried but the battery is okay.

Model: LiFePo4 - 480WH/12VDC
Capacity: 480WH
Voltage: 9~14.6VDC
Charger: 5A 14.6V CC-CV Mode

I can't find the battery charger to buy, how do I use solar panel to charge the battery? What type of solar panel can I use? Any chance of using the battery energy on socket/cross(that long wire with charger ports) to charge my phone and laptop?

I use this exact battery I can hook you up with the seller to sell just the charger to you if you're interested

Please how do you pump your water with Solar? Is the solar panel powering your AC pump or did you change it to DC solar pump?

anochuks08:
Okay.
1. 3KVA APC UpS/Inverter: 30,000
2. 4 Units of used 100ah battery: 15k each (back then)
3. 8 units of used100w mono solar panels (got them 25k from a friend)
4. 48v 30A PWM solar charge controller: 15k (I imported)
5. DC breakers 2 units (1000 each)
6. Cables n Cable locks (around 10k)
7. Battery Rack: 8k

I will advise if you decide to tow my path, to replace the used batteries with new batteries. I was lucky to get used batteries in good condition, you may not be.

I turn on my system everyday from 9am and I will pump water, load my fridge, plug all pluggables (laptops, home theater, fans etc) All will run freely from 8am till 3.30pm to 4.00pm. Sometimes, fridge goes off around 2.30pm. Then I turn off my system only to turn on again by 7.00pm and run till next morning (this time around I turn on only what is necessary, no fridge, no laptops, no pumping of water. Just TV, Phones, fans n lighting points.) That is how I have been Living for many months now.

The solar panels are hooked up to battery and the batteries are hooked up to the inverter. I use AC pump, not DC

hello gurus in the house.

this thread has been very informative. I have 2 questions.

1. please what is the relevance of volt (v) ratings of a system. for example, what is the difference i'll get from a 12v, 24v, 48v etc system?

2. what is the relevance of ampere hour (ah) ratings of batteries too. and then is it possible to increase it through battery arrangement, like it is possible with volt ratings?

thank you.
Re: Thread For Solar System/Electricity Owners in Nigeria. by DMerciful(m): 9:12pm On Mar 12, 2017
The higher the voltage, the lower the current required to deliver a specific power. This lower current reduces losses in form of heat so higher voltage systems are more efficient. Also ur battery has more longevity and better performance when the voltage is high and current low.
AH is more like the capacity of the batteries. See it like connecting two water tanks....whether series or parallel, the capacity of the two water tanks remain thesame. The relevance is a measure of the capacity for instance a 2000litres tank will last longer than a 1000litres tank given the same rate of consumption. So also a 200AH battery will last longer in terms of backup time than 100AH all things being equal

thanks a lot for the reply.

one last question, in your opinion, what type of sytem, interms of volt rating would you consider to be a common and still efficient enough standard for a regular household supply? 12v? 24v? much higher?
Re: Thread For Solar System/Electricity Owners in Nigeria. by DMerciful(m): 12:47pm On Mar 13, 2017
24V is ok but 48v is better but more expensive. If you loads are not much and u intend to incorporate solar, 24v is just fine.

Kindly let me know where to get such 12 V electric iron. Like how much does it cost? Thanks.

Forgive my extremely delayed response. Konga has a lot of these stuffs in its repository. I once saw a seller on the platform offered the iron alone for 8k. Another seller offered his with an 18mah 12volt battery addon for a total of 22k. Just search for DC iron on Konga.
