seems you guys are tired of the Russian hardware.
30+ billion dollar of prospective business that too only combat aircrafts and tired of Russian hardware. grin

problem and differences exists like the cargo plane under development where india wanted to include a engine with FADEC as it increases safety and reliability , but Russians did not want to, so the project stalled .

but sir lot many of million dollar deals happen away from the public eye which u will never know , also India recently ordered 2 billion worth of tanks from russia and another 3 billion worth of equipment's (russia and israel) on a emergency basis.

what about the civilian trade ?
russians sold so many reactors to india and in return they gave us lot of restricted technology.

why do u think russia allows india to undertake joint development of weapons like brahmos , S400 etc and provides consultancy for nuclear submarines , SLBM , nuclear command and control ( includes US also) , nuclear silos etc.

but russia restricts many of their tech to their close ally. why ?

india was operating S300VM even before it come into russian service .

now sir tell me this
ur a fan of russia ? grin
or a fan of russian military equipments ? grin
or a fan of mr. putin ? grin
or a fan of vodka and garlic pickle (forget the russian name) ? grin
or a fan of the pretty russian gals ? (cant blame u on this one ) grin grin grin

DRDO concept of kill vehicles (KV) mounted on ABM missiles

it was shown during a technical presentation many years ago (many other weapons was also shown and a good no of them have been realized)

it consists of a carrier vehicle which will carry multiple kill vehicle.

the multi kill vehicle (MKV) will be launched atop a interceptor missile and when close to the deployment range , the MKV will be deployed , the MKV will maneuver to optimal engagement (no escape zone) position and release its many KVs . the MKVs carrier vehicle will have a on board IR telescope to search , track and designate the multiple targets (MIRVs type of targets). once the KVs get the targets they will then autonomously guide themselves to their targets for Kinetic kills (hit to kill )

WALK THROUGH of DRDO upgrade of Russian M46 130MM guns to 155MM caliber guns.

1.
pic : first protype of DRDO 155 mm conversion of 130mm gun, ran into issues , not satisfactory .

2.
pic : 2nd prototype of DRDO 155 mm conversion of 130mm gun, again ran into issues , not satisfactory

3.
pic : 3rd prototype of DRDO 155 mm conversion of 130mm gun built with collaboration with Israeli soltam, production cancelled after the guns performance did not meet the requirements during operational use.

4.
pic : 4th and final prototype of DRDO 155 mm conversion of 130mm gun,DRDO took the 2nd protype and incorporated Dhanush technology into it .

this prototype completed all trials and is ready for production ( near to 1000 M46 130mm gun will be converted/upgraded to 155mm caliber based on this upgrade )

4th time worked like charm grin

moral of the story indigenous development of weapons is a road full of pot holes , heck there r no roads , u have to make the roads and dont expect any help too from the others.

Oops! My bad-temporarily confused the LCH with Rudra:this is what you should've gone for. A lighter version of he original Rooivalk. Point remains both Rudra and LCH are selling-why isn't the Rooivalk??
Politics.

Usa won the British bid with the Hellfire missile MOD said it wanted tge hellfire US said only way you getting it is by choosing USA so the USA won that bid before there was a bid.

Turkey wanted to improve ties with the EU. Nothing says friends like a multie billion arms trade

Malaysia scraped the deal all together for a attack chopper.

After that it kind of stoped being pushed. Any one else will just buy surpless cold war stock. Plenty of unused Hinds so that removes any poor country.

Though being combat proven and along side a hind for comparison the Rooivalk could make sales in say Brazil.

land based shaurya (cannesterized hyper-sonic ballistic cum cruise missile) / K15 (submarine launched hyper-sonic ballistic cum cruise missile)

pic : just build a hut covering the low cost, extremely minimum foot print and maintenance free "above the ground silo" and u r good to go
shocked shocked grin grin

trailer , rail , underwater pontoon and submarine versions tested successfully.

PRALAY ASBM (not exactly ballistic trajectory but like a cruise missile ie highly depressed trajectory again already tested ) is in development , mainly relating to the on board sensors. range 2000 kms depending on warhead

HAL HJT 36 subsonic intermediate jet trainer aircraft , struggling with spin test , a trainer must have the capability to recovery completely from pilot / artificially induced spin safely, inorder to train the rookie pilots on spin recovery techniques.

new designs have been implemented and spin tests will resume again. all other tests have been cleared except for the spin tests.

lot of rifles under development in india

pic 1

the guy is holding a MK1C assault rifle 5.56mm (slated for induction , has cleared trials)

on the table is MCIWS assault rifle (multi caliber rifle 5.56mm , 7.62x39 mm )

another unnamed 7.62x51 mm rifle is shortly due for trials

pic 2 JVPX carbine 5.56x 30mm (slated for induction, has cleared trials)

pic 3 ghatak assault rifle 7.63x39mm (induction started)

pic 4 excalibur MK1A (inducted)

plus
AMOGH carbine (inducted)
LMG (already inducted)
MMG (under development)
sniper rifle bolt action (under development)
etc
etc

except for the MMG and the sniper rifle, all belong to the INSAS family .

it is worth mentioning that EXCALIBUR MK1C has passed the water and mud tests, which four of the foreign rifles Beretta ARX 160, CZ-805 BREN, ACE 1, SIG Sauer SG 551 in the now cancelled tender competition had failed.

thats funny becz the amount of mud slinging that was heaped on the INSAS family .
india media , certain ex-officers on the payrolls of foreign companies , initial troubles were there which is expected of any newly inducted rifle eg. the travor was sent back to the designers quite a no of times due to recurring issues which were rectified over a period of time.

will have to wait for the article 30 engine development to finish and its integration to PAKFA.

plus its stealth features has to be refined further among other things before any verdict can be delivered of the final PAKFA version .

lot of work is left to be done .

the economic sanctions and to a small extent indias reluctance to release funding has slowed down the work , that is why they r ordering the SU 30 , SU35 in larger numbers

The PAKFA is born out of necessity, the Russians have to counter their "enemies" in the west who are now flying 5th generation fighters like f-35's JSF, f22 raptor and even China with its J-20. Russia's 5th generation fighter program cannot be abbandoned even if it means getting onboard a second partner.
