Good for them. Hope other state governors emulate him.Most of these schools are mere facade from outside. Mere structures to impress some rich parents but no legacy and experienced authorities. Okowa should do same and even Obiano too

True...and if its so expensive for you i think the best thing to do is avoid such schools. Am yrt to come to terms on when it has become the prerogative of the governor to check school fees and quality of teacher when we know the best thing for a child is to avoid government sponsored schools at all cost because of quality of teacher.

They're not the best, only amongst the most expensive where class distinction is the order. Theyre really really good though.

Some of their proprietors knew the agenda of the meeting and probably felt too important to honor the IV.

I mean, they've been in money b4 the Governor even left secondary school. Thing is, most politicians in Rivers State either attended or have wards in these schools so maybe the ban may not last.

However its govnor Wike were talking about here....Obey b4 complain.

The truth is that State board and Ministry of Education call meetings with these schools all the time, and the ministry themselves don't bother to turn up. Sometimes the ministry would not have paid for the venue for the meeting. The ministry would start asking the school reps to "remain on standby" all day like the reps have nothing better doing. Sometimes it would be a training session where the ministry has not organised venue. Finally when they get organised, some school reps would have left by then, the ministry would still contact those schools asking them to pay for "certificate of attendance". Is that an Education body you would take seriously?

This particular incident was not for a meeting with Wike personally, rather it was a meeting with the ministrt. The school proprietors thought it was just another unserious summons.

I'm a proud alumni of 3 of the schools on this list. Rivers Govt cannot cater for 1/10th of the students in these schools if they shut down so they should tread carefully.

He will continuously claim that the Army and police are plotting to assassinate and rig against his PDP party.

But the only people who get assassinated are Police officers, APC party officials and soldiers.

He claims APC are rigging elections yet he is the one winning the elections and arrested corrupt INEC staff confessing he bribed them .

He claims to have tapes of plots to kill his people yet to the only tape that has emerge to the public are of him threatening to kill his opponents.

Does that make any sense?

Why are even rogue criminal governors seemingly above the law in Nigeria?

I suspect he has built a secret army and is waiting for his white masters to give him the go ahead to start a local terrorist war like Boko Haram.

Looking at his mustache it could be assumed that Hitler is his role model.

Wike has plans of imposing heavy taxation on the schools but he should realize that they may move away from Port Harcourt to more conducive Owerri and people will still send their children there.

This governor is very petty. Such closure will not stand. Government is guided by laws and rules in it's dealings with institutions and not on the whims and caprices of one deluded governor acting out a mindless vengeance. The proprietors of those schools will be advised to challenge the irrational decision of that so called governor in court.

Trust me I ain't trying to attack your person but your so-called "top class" alma mater,if you don't know the difference between vouch and verge and where to use them,I think the governor is actually in the right here.
