Professor Ango Abdullahi in an interview with Daily Sun, has said that the election of President Muhammadu Buhari is a Northern agenda not a party issue. He said the North never voted for the candidate not the party. He also noted that the Buhari administration has so far disappointed the North who expected more than what it is currently getting from the government.


He said ;

There are so many people who have this mistaking belief that it was APC that won the election here in the North.

The North only voted APC on paper; but APC was formed only 18 months to the elections. There are so many other forces that brought about the election of General Buhari.

Yes, we are expecting very much from this government. There is no question about that. But it is true that by most assessments, the North is unhappy with what it is getting out of the Buhari administration.

I think it depends on the area. But to be honest I was expecting much more than we are getting. I raised this issue at an earlier interview that Buhari himself as a person has got all that it takes.

He is a man of integrity, honesty and experience to be in a position of leadership where he is now, but it takes more than one hand and man head to run a complex organization let alone to run a complex country like Nigeria.

In my service year, i visited the commercial town of Kano and i came across many of these illiterates who said, ''although Jonathan tried for us in the North, but we voted for our brother who practiced thesame faith with us''.


This is the mental capacity of these sets of illiteeates in any election. They dont vote on the bases that their prospective choice will bring about change in their lives, they tailored their voting strength on religion and sentiments.
