is Magu EFCC ? that is why its dangerous to build institutions around people rather that building people around institutions what is all these unnecessary nonsense, EFCC is capable of continuing its said objectives without Magu, he should face his allegations of corruptions and stop disturbing us, |

president buhari should have sent his name since before assuming the responsibilities of efcc boss, thats d problem we are in now, since the people being investigated are part of the present national assembly members. |

Magu is not EFCC. As such, the loot will still be discovered. It all depends on the resolve of whoever that's chairman Bolustic: |

Pennywise:Nigerians need to protest against the senate blocking Magu . if we come together as one voice in the social media instead of bashing each other negatively, I think we can help fight this old school politicians. |

| Re: Presidency, Senate To Clash Over Magu Again by Pennywise(m): 3:29pm On Feb 15, 2017 |
musicwriter:My dear musicwriter one thousand people like you planted in NL to sway people's opinion for the benefit of those who have ganged up against the people can not achieve anything. We are trying to build a country and avoid war and anarchy but people like you sell your conscience for pea nuts. Which law do you want Magu to obey? The law that makes Saraki and his cohorts unaccountable to the people or the law that preserves Justice and equity? |
| Re: Presidency, Senate To Clash Over Magu Again by lailo: 3:46pm On Feb 15, 2017 |
musicwriter:may be u dnt know that someone can buy law and judgement in Nigeria. So all these ur rule of law has no meaning in d present Nigeria. Not until people start during jungle justice on looters, ain't think we are going no where. |
| Re: Presidency, Senate To Clash Over Magu Again by musicwriter(m): 3:49pm On Feb 15, 2017 |
Pennywise:You see, you people don't just get it. For your information, I' am not saying Saraki is or is not corrupt. Ok, let me use your own logic by posing a simple question; Should Magu be confirmed as EFCC chairman because Saraki is also corrupt? |

lailo:That's exactly the reason the building of a system where rule of law is king is paramount!!. So, what we should be talking about is how to build strong institutions where everything happens within the rule of law. President Buhari himself has violated court rulings several times refusing to allow Dasuki and Nnamdi Kanu bail. How would Buhari want me to obey the same court when himself doesn't obey? .........You see? ...........Building a system where rule of law prevails is what we ought to be doing first, because it's far more important than anything else. |
| Re: Presidency, Senate To Clash Over Magu Again by musicwriter(m): 4:05pm On Feb 15, 2017 |
PUSH1:Then, we should be building institutions that have a way of vetting and selecting the most honest people as judges. |
| Re: Presidency, Senate To Clash Over Magu Again by lailo: 4:16pm On Feb 15, 2017 |
musicwriter:my brother I understand u. But Nigeria of nowadays is rotten to the extent that to build institution or rule of law, people must die unlawfully. It is people that are called this institution that u are talking about not building. There must be scapegoat and evil people must die or pay unlawfully. Everyone has corruption mentality in dis country and no new system u put down, since it is PEOPLE that will handle it, they will definitely manipulate it. If not dat Buhari detained Dasuki, Zazaky, and Nnamdi Kana unlawfully. His gov would have been worst by their activities. Yaradua used rule of law, we no reach anywhere, GEJ sef on BH issue, d thing got out of hand. We need someone who can unlawfully tried and killed looters in dis country, then u will see that our brain will go back to d default settings. Black people are d hardest people on earth to govern. |

So in a country of close to 200million souls, Magu is indispensable! Nigeria is finished. |

lailo:You need to understand what you're calling for is called dictatorship, tyranny, military rule. Is that what you want? Remember, we've been there before!!. It's like going back to our vomits. And no, you don't understand what I' am saying, cause if you do you'll understand it wouldn't happen under Buhari's regime or even in our lifetime. These things takes many decades to build, it takes tens of years to build the institutions and rule of law, so that rule of law and obedience to the courts becomes SYSTEMIC, and enshrined in the mentality of every Nigerian. What Buhari is doing now or what you're calling for is what Obasanjo called ''shortermism'' on the part of the Buhari regime and their policies. Assuming Buhari successfully fight corruption to a standstill now, but without following the rule of law, corruption would be back as soon as he complete his tenure, because he would not have laid the foundation for the war on corruption to run on its own. |
| Re: Presidency, Senate To Clash Over Magu Again by lailo: 7:15pm On Feb 15, 2017 |
musicwriter:yes I got it NOW. But u just said tens of years? Are Nigerians ready 4 such long time approach? Nigerians that were already judging Buhari after 6 months in office. They want him by now to have solved all our problems that are long standing. I think that's wy he wants to use d shortermism approach which may eventually not pay off at d long run just like u have rightly said. Thanks bro for ur constructive engagement with me on this issue. It shows I have been speaking with a matured mind unlike little kids on Nairaland who would have called out my great grand parents bcs of my opinion. Thanks |

lailo:I' am not the kind of person that curse people online or offline. Any educated person would never do that. And yes, what Buhari is doing is also nice, the only problem is we must wait for another Buhari in future to fight corruption, because his approach would not outlast his administration. It's really painful that building the institutions and system would take years, but the earlier those in government begin obeying the court the better. You can imagine the benefits of rule of law to countries like the US where Donald Trump recently banned 7 countries from entering into the US. But, irrespective of how good his intentions, the US courts ruled that the ban is unconstitutional. Now, with all his presidential powers he cannot do anything aside what the court said. If he tries going against the court (like Buhari) he would be impeached and removed from office immediately for disobeying the court. Its a very serious offense!!............Do you now see why US citizens would obey the law? Because, anybody commiting crime knows he/she would go to jail even if the father is Dangote. |

lailo:My question here is this. Is Magu himself clean? Can he defend himself against the corrupt practices raised against him? Transparency is key in fighting corruption. The report clearing him need to be made public. He who comes into equity must come with clean hands As per jungle justice and not following the law. It is still the law that established EFCC, if we dont follow the law EFCC wont exist too. What we need a special court to try corrupt people fast and avoid unnecessary delay and adjournment. |
